You seem to assume the only "natural" actions for a species are those with practical gain... in which case making art/music is unnatural too, but we've been doing that since day one, as well as having sex with unfertile partners of different sex - hell, we didn't even understand when in the menstrual cycle women were fertile until relatively recently meaning that MOST of our sex was non-reproductive.

Dolphins intentionally have sex when they're not fertile too. They like fucking. Most "higher" animals have to like fucking. It's the only way of guaranteeing that they'll do it (see Pandas).

Who's talking about legality? They're both sexual attractions. Someone fucks kids because they're sexually attracted to them. Some dude's who's into blonds fucks them 'cause he's sexually attracted to them.

It's not different. The only difference is that a child can't consent but a grown up can, therefore it shouldn't be legal when it's a grown up fucking a kid. I'm not even comparing homosexuality specifically to pedophilia, but all sexuality. Including chubby chasers or someone who prefers brunettes over blondes.

I don't even fault pedophiles for having their urges. I fault them when they give in to their urges. But being attracted to kids, knowing that it's wrong and how society would look on them.. dunno man. That's pretty sad and deserving of some sympathy.

Absolutely, but I have a strong feeling that quite a number of people think we should.

What is different between the assertion that paedophillia is like homosexuality and paedophillia is like heterosexuality? If you consider both statements true then I think you're wrong but less wrong than you would be if you considered only the first to be true.

There's an inference to draw if you only consider the first to be true that you consider homosexuality to be wrong or unnatural. I don't consider that sensible.

I disagree with Genevive because just as rape isn't often about sex paedophilia or acts that would be considered such aren't necessarily about sex or sexual attraction.

I've known many gay people throughout my life, and none of them considered their sexuality a choice. I will go ahead and take their word for it over a couple of people who are likely gay but choose not to admit it.

Pedophilia is by definition about sexual attraction. As for the homosexuality comparison, Genevieve summed up my thoughts pretty well.

In which case I think the argument is reductionist and thus way too simplistic. I also think it's a red herring to even introduce paedophilia into a discussion about homosexuality given just how loaded it is.

Agreed.

Also, any though of homosexuality not being "natural" because it doesn't produce offspring is ridiculous imo. Lots of animals engage in homosexuality. Storm over to them and tell them it's not natural. Masturbation doesn't produce offspring, but it seems to be a natural part of many animals repertoire. Disguising homophobia with illogical scientific reasoning imo

It's crazy that someone could tell another person that he or she choses to be what they are, when they have no idea about that person's life, thoughts/feelings or even the sexual orientation that they are running off at the mouth about

We can argue nature vs nurture all day, but to what end? Have some compassion and love for other humans and shit like this can hopefully not be an issue anymore
