Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION - 37 - GROUP 4 OPEN NOW
gotta go with mike, sounded like two separate songs but definitely my favourite of the four!

Whats your opinion on Oscar and November? I thought they were really good...hutyluty wrote:gotta go with mike, sounded like two separate songs but definitely my favourite of the four!

oscar for me basically cause its the only tune i understand and i like the little melody alot
Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION - 37 - GROUP 4 OPEN NOW
november was alright, good synth work, the drums were a bit too stuttery for me, never really flowed as a tune. Oscar was ok, a bit too cheesy for my tastes and the vocal didn't fit with the melody really.SMOR3S wrote:Whats your opinion on Oscar and November? More importantly Mike didn't really have much that distracted or took away from the song; it's unusual, doesn't follow the cookiecutter norm, and sounds good. I do agree that the beat wasn't the most engaging thing ever, but overall it had a certain something that's hard to pin down but left me wanting more.
A close runner up for me would be November - it had more variety and some pretty cool sounds, but there were places where the drums and other elements didn't really work, need to be there, or have so many elements. Less is more.
Oscar's waveform made me cringe at first (there was one in the first round that was brickwalled too) but suprisingly wasn't so taxing to listen to. Big up for going DnB style. The melody was cool; imho that could've used paring down/editing too. (see above about less is more.
) Sounds like it was jammed out live instead of sequenced.
Papa had some excellent sound design/resampling action going on, missing some dynamics and changes in the overall arrangement. The lo-mid growly bass in this one is a keeper, add some sub (not sure if there was any) and it's
.

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION - 37 - QUARTER FINALS OPEN
Quarter final voting is now up.
In case anyone is wondering, the battles were decided as winner of group 1 vs. runner up group 3, winner of group 2 vs. runner up group 4, and vice versa.

No, there are 4 quarter finals, so vote once for each quarter final.
