Re: If you can make one thing illegal...
It'll probably come about via resource driven necessity soon enough. No need to legislate.
Re: If you can make one thing illegal...
and if that happens it will surely be a slow process of meat leaving super markets I'm in the country and I'll go kill and eat rabbits.

Attaching unrelated shit to bills to sneak it by the public and make it into law.

+1. the only time I use the sidewalk is if I have to make a left hand turn from one busy road onto another.kidshuffle wrote:no. use the road or get off the bike imo. there's a reason cities with bike lanes don't put them on sidewalks.dubunked wrote:How bout they just ride on the sidewalk and then whenever a person comes along, they go onto the road. Then they go back on the sidewalk after passing the person. Problem solved.rayman612 wrote:Sorry bikes on sidewalks is much more obnoxious to ppl walking than bikes on roads are to ppl in car
going from the sidewalk to road and back is even more obnoxious

Yeah but it's not just "get off your land because we need it for freeways" it's usually "here's a cheque for more than what the land is actually worth so you can relocate." Social housing doesn't recognize the impracticality of owning land, it simply recognizes that it's unaffordable for some people (especially the unemployed, those with disabilities, those with terrible financial management skills, etc.). Just because Ferrari's are out of reach for the majority of people it doesn't mean that they should be illegal....sd5 wrote:the Picts, Khoikhoi & Palestinians etal probably thought so tooMason wrote:So if no one owns land one day someone could turn up and kick you out your house and lay claim to the land?
even modern landowners under western laws are kicked off their land for freeways etc
lessees don't own the land they live on
& social housing recognizes the impractibility of owning land
ownership of land isn't axiomatic
it's one of many options for the occupation of land
one that has disbenefits,
including inequity.
People talk about inequity as though it's the worst thing in the world. IMO inequity is what pushes us to achieve greater things. Why would I want to work my ass off if it won't make much of a difference in my life? There's some people who can't achieve due to life circumstances and disabilities, but the majority of problems I see are because people are either lazy, make terrible life decisions (just see the "keep the baby or abort it" thread) or don't have the first clue about financial management.

Forcing religion upon others -> fucking death penalty.
