Soul Jazz have got vinyl reissues of the two Network Nu Groove comps, the green one with John McCready's sleevenotes and the maroon one, at the moment. it has to be said that much of what i've heard so far from these sets sounds a lot like nyc house from the late 80's. obviously the bpm's in funky are a bit faster but the arrangement and structure (using one main loop and then alternating it (dropping it in and out)) is getting really close to it.
