Are these producers a good representation of the kind of dubstep being made in the USA right now?

he never said that he said it rarely gets picked up by labels hence less exposure which i agree with
i've had more of my dancefloor wobblers get signed or have labels show interest towards than my deeper or more laid back 2steppy stuff
exposure/more money, whatever. Both shitty reasons to make tunes imo. Its no surprise dubstep is 99% the same old shite if this is the attitude of pretty good producers, what happened to making tunes for yourself? Surely this is the only way to make music which reflect you and stands out as something differnt from that 99% of the same shit?
I don't know where you are getting this shit lol. I make deep tunes, Deadly makes deep tunes they just don't see the light of day because the market doesn't demand those types if tunes. It is plain and simple. We also make tunes that are more marketable but that isn't the reason I make them. I like that sound too. It's pretty simple I am not sure why you are trying to stir the pot here. Troll?
All I can say is this: I don't know a single music producer who is content to just make music for himself and not get recognized, paid, advance career, etc. And being a dance music producer of any kind is not the fast track to any of those goals. If you set out to make "dubstep" it could very well sound generic, pedestrian re: spooky intro, movie sample, wobble. If you set out to make honest music then there it is. People say dubstep is mainstream but it really isn't. It's microcosm compared to the entire world of edm let alone popular music of any kind. I create edm to have fun, sonic r&d, and have another iron in the fire of holistic music producer is all; being original in any creative field should go without saying.

Its a sad state of affairs when producers are accused of "selling out" for releasing tunes that have sold not much more than 1000 vinyl units!

I thought we made Canada the 51st state in 2005. Did that not happen?

can't really say much on the american dubstep scene... i don't really listen to much of it so i'll avoid saying anything uninformed about the scene. i'm canadian and as a producer living in montreal (which does seem to have a fairly active, loyal scene) i don't have any contacts with other producers or dj's in the city, even the country. canadian dubstep seems to lean toward the heavy and hard sound, which i'm not as interested in as, say, uk funky or new garagey tunes or weirdo stuff like brackles, and that sort of music hasn't really crossed the atlantic very much yet from what i see (although karizma and faltydl and starkey and others are seriously repping north america with new sounds). so i guess that leaves me sitting here alone in my underpants, getting stoned and making tunes that nobody else hears. but maybe i'm just not hearing the tunes being made in north america that are really groundbreaking and i'm missing out on a whole big thing
