On another note, got this bass for a remix I'm working on. Sort of must die meets xkore to my ears.

Soundcloud

Thoughts? I can upload patches but there's a heap of fx morphing that sound there.

Sounds pretty good mate! Would love to know what you did to get the sound... don't need to upload a preset or anything (unless you want to), would just appreciate your technique in designing/processing :4:

Well since you offered... :)

Also, I can't use ohmnicide. The GUI is just so....everywhere I don't understand how people can like it. Is iZotope's trash an equal alternative?

I'll make a pack of presets some time in the near future that I'll offer for a free download. Also, ohmicide isn't that complex, you just need to understand what it is, a multiband distortion. Go easy on the gain and find what modes suit each band. My favourites are sastrugi, puncher and noiz-e (lol they're all right next to each other), porridge and harder are pretty good also. I used trash 2 for a while but it's too......intense. the distortion is kinda strange and can't really be used subtly. That's the great thing about ohmicide, it's amazing in small doses.

btw all I use of ohmicide is the mode, band gain, band volume, pre-dist and mix level. Maybe shape if I'm feelin it. I basically just leave all the other shit at default. But yeah get to know it and it's fucking awesome.

just sounds like a generic xkore bass to me. kinda lame unless you do cool things with it. It's a decent patch though I suppose.

I did teh xkore

Soundcloud

pretty raw but sounds cool to me. 3 ocs are crude (spectrum), digigrain 2 (bend -) and scrapyard (spectrum.) modulated a daft filter, double notch filter, intensities of each osc (left to right) and wave table pos. of Crude (all the way from right to left), all together on the same macro. ha0rdclipper and parabolic shaper to taste. 3 unison voices and restart via phase on. Grouped a high pass with the main modulator after distortion from ohmicide.

At first I was like "what the fuck?".. but then the song started swinging and I got into the groove of it. The growls are really nice, reminds me of the little bits that feed me mixes into the electro basses in his old songs. What method? FM8 and EQ?

Yea the main patch is fm8 and its a really simple patch to be honest. Its basically a saw wave layered with a 4 octave sin wave that is being modulated 100% by the fundamental. After that i distorted it with ohmicide to give it character then from there it is literally entirely eq modulation and cabinet. I wish there was a trick that people could like, "figure out" with growls, but it really comes down to hearing a sound and knowing how to isolate what is good about it and take away what is bad.

Sat down and made this tonight, I love making reeses and growls but I kind of dislike typical brostep so I will need to figure out how I want to use any stuff that I come up with, typically if I am making a song its ghey trancey shit.

I think its time to go back to my old picture. Some people actually thought I was a girl though, so maybe I should have kept it.

this clip sounds atrocious. sounds like fm8, but it could be massive with some type of multiband distortion plugin on it, am I right?
