Well, I can't log in anymore, so this may be goodbye. The only reason I'm here is this computer's browser still has an active cookie.

Finished a tune this week for the first time in awhile which feels like an accomplishment. You guys may or may not know how freakishly busy I am at the moment, so getting a bit of time to do music felt good. Thing was, I had written the tune in Amsterdam a few years ago, it was fully arranged and then I forgot about it. I had to replay the bassline and do the mixdown, but it felt good to get something down.

I don't like forgetting about tunes that are almost finished.

:Q: any chance we can get a listen now or later on when its a bit more polished?

I'm thinking I may need a hardware ring modulator. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thinking of just going with the MoogFooger because I've never owned a Moog product...seems like it'd play well with the MicroBrute...

I might submit that tune to TUNA this week. It's a deep house tune, so it might not be your thing.

I've kind of wanted a Moog ring modulator. Just to get some freaky sounds. I haven't had a chance to hook up my Moog lowpass filter to my Microbrute yet, but they probably would play well with each other.

I'll check out the TUNA! thread later on then : ) And I'm pretty much into everything...and don't really even listen to Dubstep anymore...mostly not making it either.

I thought about getting the Moog LPF as well, but I've got a lot of filters after I count them. Also that MuRF pedal looks really interesting, but if I recall it is quite a bit more expensive than the others.

Man, some of those cats are ruthless in that Roland thread. But you are def holding your own. I love Roland because most of my studio has been Roland since I began, but I have not been been interested in a Roland product for years. I am interested in the Aira's just because they sound good.

I don't know if you could call them ruthless or just stupid/delusional.

But that thread is gs/emp at its worst. It is a lot better than that.

I rely on emails from dsf to inform me of new posts, and after that snafu, I'm not getting anything. Have no idea if people are posting.

I C U over there!

Those Rolandites are the worst. I've never seen anything like it. Such a huge chip on their shoulders. Absolutely unable to discuss anything with them, and they get NASTY, just go for you personally, immediately. I don't know what's wrong with them, dude.

Anyone paying for those new PCM samples in the TR-8 is moron. /story I mean...I'm not sure what I'd really be interested in at this point as far as reissues or reboots of old Roland gear, but nothing the released did it for me or I would own it at this point at the price point that stuff is going for. Honestly, if I could choose between all the new Roland gear or an Elektron AR...I'd take the AR in a heartbeat. Or even a Tempest. Even if DSI never finished the OS I'd still rather the Tempest!

I thought the TR-8 sounded pretty good and its a step in the right direction. It looks like it would be fun to play on tactilely. I just made up a new word.

The TR-3 sounds fun and that Vocoder sounds pretty fun as well.

I AM NOT A ROLAND FANBOY (well sorta) and I agree with nowaysj that Roland lost their way a long time ago but it sounds like they are trying to move in the right direction again.

With that said, Roland was (and is) such an important part of my sound. My first synth was a Juno-106 which I still have.

Roland gear installed in my studio:

Juno-106
MKS-50 with PG-300 programmer
MKS-70 with PG-800 prgrammer
JV-1080 with expansion cards
JV-2080 with expansion cards
DC-10 analog echo
Boss DR-5 drum machine

I guess for me I'm really not that interested in reissues/reboots. I'm more interested in something new. I wish Nord would put their 4-6 voices of their Nord Drum inside a box with a sequencer with multiple outs, just as an example. I do think the "touch" technology on the TB3 is a cool idea and I'd love to have a go with one just to test that part out, but the TB3 doesn't seem worth the dosh just for that even though you can sequence other gear with it. Forgot about the Vocoder. I also think that performance mixer is a great idea--again--what Roland came up with was meant to work with their Aira line specifically so it missed the mark for me in a lot of ways, but I'm hoping someone steals that idea and comes up with something like it.

I still think Roland is *really* screwing people with that sound upgrade to the TR8...it seems really expensive for what you get IMO.

Yea. Gearslutz is good for a laugh quite often.
