I didn`t even see it.
I was in a conference call when I clicked it, STUPIDLY.
Luckily I had my headphones in so I just heard major screaming from them.
Netmeeting blocked the picture.

i hate the bitch who wrote this. she writes these rants all the time, but she only got popular because shes a former candy kid who wasn't afraid to show off her tits. because of said fact, she has no clue now da industry works

Has anyone ever investigated to see if these so called DJ competitions to open for headliners actually work? You know get the most likes on a mix or whatever to qualify. How do u know that your mix was the one with the most likes etc. Does anyone question this tactic?
Do u know what I mean?
Sure maybe "it's good promotion" in the end but for who exactly? why wouldnt you just promote yourself then instead of doing someone else's promotion for them. I'm not saying it's wrong or bad I'm just saying it's a sneaky ploy and laziness on both parties behalf.
If the promoter did research and actually looked for talent then they would have to pay.
Again breeds the new era of freejays. While the ones that are busting their asses promoting themselves & are quality artists constantly get overlooked.
Again why don't DJs promote themselves regularly and consistently and why don't promoters do their jobs and hire and pay DJs?
DJs that play for free constantly your only hurting yourself in the long run and everyone that came before you. Sure get established and make a name for yourself in the beginning. Everyone has to go through that stage. If that's the stage your at you shouldn't be opening for headliners. Period.
Things should return to order of experience and amateurs should wait their turn in line like the rest of us did.
U could be the sickest basement DJ out there. You still have no business in a spot others before you have earned.
Sure the opportunity might seem glorious the hopes that you get to open for some amazing headliner. Dude seriously if I don't know you I'm not going to listen to your random mix so u can win a spot & help u play for free to promote some promotion group And continue the cycle of laziness. But if u were to just promote yourself properly I would probably take 5 mins and give you a listen. And maybe just maybe if you return and are like I'm opening for_______ then I'd be like sweet I've heard of you before and you were great. Good job earning that spot.
Perhaps you have earned that spot and you are experienced and are in the comp to win an opening slot. What the hell are you doing there then? If youve earned it then the promoters should already know about you! Again i realize this is a great opportunity to expose fresh talent theres so much out there now its impossible as a promoter to know whos the best or whos a hidden gem . If your so hidden then again no business being there get in line and promoters do your research. Yes the benefits of opening for a headliner supersedes payment and exposure is key in the end. But really it's the cheapest form of promotion out there. Quite the smart tactic on the promoters part. The more promoters bank on this opportunity for exposure thing the more saturated the scene gets of ppl groveling for spots and playing for free.
My concern is validity.
Stand up for yourself. Your art and passion is worth something. How much time and money have you poured into it? People pay to see you. Not to stand in an empty room with big lights and a soundsystem!
I am generally anticorporation and try not to spend my time and money on them as much as possible. So buying into someone else's cash grab while the talent get overlooked is not something I want to compete for. I will not enter anymore of these stupid competitions unless the rules change to how experienced you are get the spots.
True this is just my opinion no one has to agree with me. And I am not out of line by bringing it up. just wanted to get that off my chest :)

Signed my friend up to a dating website yesterday (with her permission of course), and she's just text me saying 110 men have viewed her profile and nobody has written to her.
I was trying to help but I've only made her feel worse  :corncry:
