"dude, lets just track your verse, i can move it all over no problem"
"you can... MOVE... that verse, over THERE??? MY DUDES A MAGICIAN N***A!!" :\ ;]

would an actual musician say that?... i think you would have to be a very simple minded musician, the ones who sit on their front porches with one tooth and a banjo maybe

I play piano, guitar, bass and drums, I've been in a couple handfulls of very active bands, I'm recording an album with one of my bands right now and I'm hoping to go to university for jazz guitar. I'm an actual musician and I would never say that. That's just blatant pretension.
I agree to some extent though, if you have absolutely no idea what you're doing and you're just dicking around in Fruity Loops with absolutely no thought or purpose, you're not making real music to most peoples standards, but I think it's fair to say that everyone here is making real music and every successful electronic musician is making real music.

Ahahaha this is great. Coming from a generation of music pirates I tend to get this a lot. Some one will play music off their iPod in the car and it literally sounds like it's been put through a band pass filter. I'm like "What the fuck is this? Buy the 320..." to which I almost always get "320?? :dunce: "

Why would you need to buy the 320, just go mediafire it.

I dont think saying it sounds so midi or whatever is very stupid. They mean it sounds like a gm (general midi) soundset.
Dont have any real content, I always forget shit like that. People (who have never produced) always ask me what software I use when they hear my music like that is what makes my music effective which cracks me up. Also people who say it must be really easy/hard to write electronic music, I give them the same response either way : "Its easy to do anything badly" . Deja vu.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget.

Maybe I missed something. But music is music..
I know theory and can play multiple instruments, but if someone with no music knowledge can bust out a better tune than me, then much respect to them.
Someone who is not trained coming up with something better than someone who is trained.. seems like an accomplishment to me. Think of people who play just by ear.. they get respect, why not the same for people messing with midi and a synth.

anyway to contribute.. I posted this in snh a few months ago.. but it kinda applies here:
I was spinning in my dorm and some dude walked in a just watched me for 5-10min(i've talked to him a few times so it was anything creepy).. I had some mala, girl unit and distance on an 18".. sub is just pumping.. the dude goes "do you ever play any real music" :cornlol: :cornlol:
then said he had over 500GB of popular songs if I ever wanted any.
;)
