As for the licensing costs, the lack of licensing for PC sales makes selling PC games for $60 even less justifiable.
there aren't many console mmos... those alone make up a largeeeeee profit base
yeah safe to say WoW has made more cash than any video game in history.
And effectively made it impossible to get a new MMO off the ground in the process. Apart from FFXI and Eve, every other MMO has gone free-to-play or has shut down entirely. No one's willing to pay $15/month without having the same content and userbase as WoW. The Old Republic (

) has a decent chance, but after what happened with APB, I'm not so sure.
Free to play has proven more profitable in most scenarios. Micro-transaction is the future for 90% of mmo's. (talking about my livelyhood here :p)
In my opinion WoW has forced a standard on MMO's. WoW has an insanely established, deep, storyline yet doesn't require insane time investment. That's the new standard for pay to play.... or you go microtransaction.
The problem is MMO's became the brostep of gaming.... investors were throwing blind money at shit developers trying to make the new MMO.
Rift and Guild Wars are other successful ones, but yea regarding EVE when i played i had my account paying for itself and ended up making a few hundred bucks off it when i sold it and quit playing
i just don't understand console fps playing though, they rarely work when compared to mouse and keyboard controls (goldeneye, perfect dark, halo and timesplitters being the only ones that come to mind)
i love that dice said look we're developing for the pc first and foremost with battlefield 3 like it used to be with fps franchises

ffs
"For fuck sake"? or "Final fantasy 7"? because I tried to play the latter recently thinking of how much I used to love it but I'm telling you try playing it now and you will turn it off after about 30 minutes.
I could play this game while the ps2 was out but after playing some games on the ps3 this many years later, nah.
Anyway the only 2 games that I bother to play is gta, Assassins creed or Fifa these days

Still going to be one of my favourite games along with 8 but I played them both over and over for years but I think it's got to the point now where I wouldn't be able to start it again.
Would be amazing if they remade it BUT they need to keep all the same music and sounds

over 2million sales @ 10$ pre beta 20$ beta
goes to show you just need a good game idea and not a large dev company and a bunch of needless eye candy instead of game content/mechanics
i'd have to rank morrowind and minecraft amongst two of the games that i've gotten
well more gameplay time and enjoyment out of vs cost

i think he has youtube to thank for that
and more like /v/ and the people on gaming boards who helped take it to a viral stage when it was just creative and indev versions and free
that and an extremely active modding community (hell i'm working on a couple atm)

PSN still offline (since last wednesday) + some of the 77 millions of details stolen (including names, addresses and credit card details)...
That's a bit much imo

Don't really care about this. Bought my PS3 second hand and the previous owners account was still on there so I just used that. Ha!

Nintendo's products have historically been defect-free, but there's probably going to be more of a risk if they actually have a decent online infrastructure this time around.
