Re: Big names who shun DSF.
There certainly are too many people quick to cuss down the forum on twitter, maybe because twitter is so easy, so accessible, it becomes the toilet wall of the internet. People post shit just to post shit.
I'm not naive though, the forum shouldn't claim greater importance than it has. The forum represents a small minority of the buying public, a small ratio of the people who actually go to raves. And the more I look into all these loud mouths on twitter, (just do a search for dubstep forum on twitter), the more you realise that people read ONE bad/negative/shitty comment and they cuss the entire forum down. There's some twitter whinging currently about Biome's latest statement about techno on FB and how it's being discussed on here. One guy (who I actually rate) says we're trying to stop man's freedom of speech as a forum!? Don't get me wrong, I can understand man is upset as Biome is his friend, but that's fully retarded (goes on to say men should be throwing hands instead of discussing stuff, so...).
Plasticman himself says he prefers the days when internet wasn't about and you'd go to a rave, play and just see happy faces. Not all the discussion online. This is in relation to one guy saying he wasn't into Dubstep Allstars mix because Plasticman is brostep (to my understanding the mix is pretty varied).
I guess some people just want to put out music and believe everyone is hyped, in it for the moment, the dance and then they all go home and forget about it. Personally, I want something more, I wanna nerd out and chat about it, I want to find stuff that properly stimulates me inside and out of the dance. If tunes ain't doing it for me, I wanna chat about why, maybe find some things by the same producer that does do it for me. The most distinct impression I get from all of the whinging about music forums (in general) by big names, is they only want the highs of the rave, the moment when everyone is vibing together (which is a beautiful thing) but none of the rest of actual life, the day to day grind, the talk, the downs, the banter. Which is unrealistic to say the least. No, it doesn't help certain people mouth off because they can, but having the foresight and intelligence to realise that it's such a minor thing seems to make it easier for a lot of producers.
Joe Nice was generally a shock, I'm still not sure why he's against the forum now, proper saddening to see really. Phigure, just to clarify (as much as I can):
Scuba: Is dubstepforum actually dead?
Joe nice: it's been dead to me for ages.

I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.
Re: Big names who shun DSF.
i dont really take offense to that, people come to forums for different reasons, and if the forum isnt serving that purpose for him any longer, then it IS "dead" to him. just because he says that doesnt necessarily mean that he thinks it's completely worthless
Re: Big names who shun DSF.
not about taking offense tho, more a like this is so unnecessary (in many ways)
that biome/plasticman thing you say Pete is one of the main reasons twitter/FB is shit

Re: Big names who shun DSF.
yeah, if dsf is irrelevant to you
why would you persist with it?
we're better off without those who think so
and who cares what they subsequently opine about it?
it's irrelevant to this here world

Re: Big names who shun DSF.
if it's irrelevant to them why they even bother mentioning it. If it's really dead why is he talking about it?
Don't know about you guys but if things are irrelevant to me I just leave them be hell if things are irrelevant to me I can't be arsed to even think about them let alone voice an opinion on a social network site to "I don't know how many followers" whom I might influence
anyway let us share in the death threats gwa

Re: Big names who shun DSF.
Maybe mr. Nice really liked this place, all the varied users brought value to his life, but then the forum was hit by a wave of double digit iq'ed adolescents who made the place mostly unbearable. He simply laments in passing, the loss of a love. We've all done it, said it. Relax, he wasn't talking about you, you are the smart one.

Re: Big names who shun DSF.
I find the comments on Djs facebooks and event pages far less inteligent than most of the shit that gets posted on dsf.
If even half the mouthbreathers on there joined, dsf would be in trouble.
People on here can be overly critical, sometimes just for the sake of being a dick but if you cant take that then you shouldnt really use the internet or atleast take it all to heart.
Oh and Im sure Djs do ignore DSF but then you get strange people who lurk sending them links via fb or twitter to threads with people chatting shit about them or rubbishing their latest release and curiosity is bound to kick in at that point.
