Best DMZ I've been to in ages.
There's no vibe like at DMZ really, sounds cheesy maybe but its more of a community than a crowd at some points.
System was probably best I've heard it, flagged a bit right at the end but most of the night was loud pretty much everywhere and in some places was nostril shakingly loud.
The music was top quality, was especially happy to hear so much variety- garage, grime, jungle... and a variety of rhythms and styles in dubstep terms too.
Benny was heavy, played a few digi classics (Horrorshow, Pathways etc.). D1 was GREAT, upbeat rhythms and a mixture of old and new. Digital Mystikz- the vibes for their set at DMZ is always special. Personally got a bit bored at points with the metallic wobble stuff but having said that some of those Coki tunes are NUTS. Came back in after a smoke to see Mala finishing up with some stunning tunes (Pinch's 'Rise Up' RMX), the last tune with the epic intro and two-note bassline grrrrrrrr
SILKIE AND QUEST SMACKED IT! Highlight of my night I think, was pretty into it at the start, went out for a smoke again, came back in to see the last 30 odd minutes and was completely swept up in it. The tune that Broken Heart RMX (another one of those times where I remembered how much I love that tune) was mixed into was dirt, really punchy sub bassline. And then out of Broken Heart RMX into Stand
Stunning tune, the way it breaks down for ages and builds back up to that drop. Those three tunes finished me off. A tune like Stand, so meditative and slow burning, getting full play at DMZ summed up why I was so pleased with the night in a way- it wasn't all about bashing instantly releasing bangers, there was room to manoeuvre.
Tron killed it as expected, all those garage and grime classics, so good to hear them on that system in that room. The D'explicit type tunes brought energy.
Finally Appleblim's set was again superb and ballsy in terms of playing some really experimental, minimal and deep stuff when it would have been easy to just roll out filthy stompers. It was a shame the system wasn't as loud as it had been but only to be expected. Anyway, that RSD tune 'Over It' again killing it, another RSD tune too. The Pev RMX of 'Waterfalls' is next level. And out to Brackles for getting his tune played and pulled up by Crazy! Sounded sick on the system too. Finally the hardcore/jungle was great, gave me a last burst of energy to finish off the night.
Anyway, all chin-stroking aside the most jaw dropping thing I witnessed all night was dubluke ranting about zombies.
Big up all I saw, especially the stamina lawn crew who witnessed Jubscarz' mental initiation into the crackhead christian crew.
Didn't seem all that busy last night but I suppose after the 3rd Birthday everything seems less busy.
Big up DMZ!

The contraband Gin and lemonade at the after party help with the pain. But my head is lumpy!Deapoh wrote:Yah he's got a big fucking bleeding gash on his head. It's messy.Skipple wrote:your head? umm...Markle wrote:Although my head is shaped a little different now![]()

bouncer emptied my custom earplugs on to the ground when he unzipped my wallet upside down on the way in, and then threatend to not let me in for having 'an attitude' because i asked him to be careful! goon, expect he shits the bed.
aside from bully door staff, was quality,DMZ never disappoints, silkie and quest were sick.

bro you should see the video footage of that shit, it is so fucking funny.Deapoh wrote:All about leaving mass and jumping in some random shower with Pokes, Kozee and the nessleiI think the night started going too far when Markle rocked it out on the grass, you gin bastard!
i can't say thanks enough to everyone for last night. to those of you who recognised me, introduced yourselves, and basically made me feel at home so quickly, big up!
it was great to finally link you guys and check the dance. out to my girl kozee! mala, pokes, deapoh, quest, silkie, skipple, grandal, markle, the two bros at the after party (sorry i can't remember your names!) and your mate with the stripey tee (you were jokes!) badger, dubluke, georgie, sinc vision, ashley... and to anyone else i've forgotten, i'll see you again soon no doubt!
everybody killed it in my opinion last night. like someone has mentioned already, the diversity of the sets was striking and made every moment of the party enjoyable and unique. DMZ smacked it of course - really good to hear loefah coming with some proper different beats, and quest & silkie.... oh my!! those boys are on something else. oneman and appleblim's sets were heavy as well.... i was in bass heaven last night.
so ... play fights, random wandering down back streets and messy after parties - seems some things are consistent wherever you are in the world.

i'm takin this show on the road.
