Yup. I got a release on Soul Jazz records.

It's out on Monday but its in the Soul Jazz web shop now.

It's a new funky remix of Move Down Low. The main draw is the VIP. All massive drums, big drops, snatch of Rubi Dan's vocal - latin funky apocalypse. Like the Ice Rink b-side mix but bigger and ruder. Sinden's been caning it for months.

Will be in all the usual stores any day now.

Listen to it here.

New releases by El Rakkas (004) and Ca.tter (005) will be available in all good recordshops from Monday, May 30th 2010.
Four tracks each, 12" vinyl, 300 copies each, no digital formats.

ImageImage

Preview snipplets at http://soundcloud.com/dubsquare

El Rakkas debuted last year with a 12” on Lo Dubs, with remixes by LV and XI released only a few weeks ago. Their new EP on Dubsquare Records combines dark, bass-heavy techno-sounds with a Horsepower-ish 2-step swing. The remix by Pomassl (Laton/Raster-Noton) turns the original into a highly experimental but nevertheless danceable warehouse experience.

With her second release on the label, Ca.tter continues to develop her very own version of Detroit-influenced bass-music. Double Helix (LHF), who has just been signed to Blackdown’s Keysound-label, contributs a remix of 4th Motion, setting Ca.tter’s Neo-Detroit in the context of mid-90s-Jungle.

Already available at Bounce Records (Vienna), Juno (London), Market (Vienna), Red Eye (Ipswich), Substance (Vienna). More shops to follow next week.

VERSION002
ORSON - Madness / 808 Dub VERSION 12″ Vinyl

After the much acclaimed first release on version by Timeblind, VERSION002 features 2 mesmerizing 808 workouts from label boss Orson himself. Madness’ opens on a atmospheric tip only to switch into eruptive wall shaking subs and syncopated percussions. ? 808 dub? on the flip is a swinging late night groove with swirling fragments of Dub and Jungle echoing in and out of the mix. He has been one of the pioneers to push the blossoming sound of Dubstep outside of the Uk from early on. hes been running his version events since 2005 with guests like Digital Mystikz, Skream, Loefah, Kode 9, Benny Ill and many more. Orson is known for his exclusive upfront dubplate selection and has played at such legendary events as the mighty ‘Dmz’ dance in Brixton in early 2008 and 2009, the ‘Big Apple Records’ Christmas party and at ‘Dubwar’ in New York. The future looks promising for Orson’s productions, he has been busy in his own studio aswell as working on beats with the likes of Benny Ill of Horsepower Productions (one collabo tune will be out on Tempa very soon), Mala from Digital Mystikz and Sgt Pokes. DJ support by : Appleblim, DJ Chef, Clouds, Bunzero, Hops, DJ Skratch and many more.

Off the back of Blawan's Hessle audio release we've dusted off some old dubs from early 2008 as a little treat. Jackel ter9's received it's first play on Dusk and Blackdown's Rinse FM show giving Blawan his first pirate radio airplay. On the B side there is a dark, dubby roller from Ste Shine also taken from 2008. This is his debut release.

It will be available from Chemical records as of Monday and then in other online stores in a few weeks.

POCZ / PACHEKO / BRACKLES
"ZARBAK / DORADO" 12"

This is the latest release i've worked on along with Pocz,
with a really cool remix by Brackles!...
Its out now via senseless / st holdings on vinyl and digital formats.
The digital version includes a great smooth funky/kuduro remix
by portugal's Mr Gasparov... wich i really like.

Digital Version available directly via senseless:
http://senselessrecords.bandcamp.com/al ... -zarbak-ep

Vinyl available at all good record shops... for example, boomkat.
http://boomkat.com/vinyl/314790-pacheko ... ackles-mix

Zarbak has been supported by Untold, Dave Q, Kid606, and Cardopusher among others...

And this is some of the stuff i've read so far:

"The spirit of hardcore, jungle and garage from the UK are all evident from the UK Funky rhythms and rumbling sub bass in ‘Zarbak’ to the melancholy melodic refrains of ‘Dorado’ but there’s something else there too. There’s something tribal in the drums that taps into a deep history of Latin American percussive rhythms and adds a dimension that is clearly their own. If UK bass is about the energy and pressure of the city at night then Caracas bass about the point where the intensity of the city meets the wide open space of the jungle, the beach and the mountains under a carpet of stars. Put the needle on the record, close your eyes and imagine it. Also, there’s remixes from Brackles (Blunted Robots/Planet Mu) and Mr Gasparov (Soul Jazz)."
- DeVille (Senseless Records)

"The Zarbak EP features remixes by Blunted Robots’ Brackles and Portugal’s Mr. Gasparov, and it’s the latter we’ve got for you today – starting where last year’s ‘1975’ single for UK label Steak House left off, with light-footed percussion and laser-sharp melodic turns."
- FACT MAGAZINE

"Wicked dubstep/funky ruffige from Venezuelan's Pocz and Pacheko backed with a Brackles remix. Following a killer contribution to the recent Shockout release, Pacheko and Pocz run with crisp, soca-indebted percussion and bubbling subs splashed with colourful carnival-tek melodics on 'Zarbak'"

Detailed release notes/information about featured new items:

Top Cat 'Champion DJ' 2xCD (Streetlife)
The brand new CD album from Top Cat, featuring 11 new tracks and 4 Bonus tracks from some of the jungle scene's most talented producers. 'Champion Deejay' is a combination of drum & bass, jungle and reggae coming together in true ruffneck fashion! The album contains tracks from Serum, Remarc, Serial Killaz, Benny Page, Chase & Status, Heist, Marcus Visionary, Ray Keith, Panik & M Rode, DJ Rap and more. Item No. 11241 $21.99

DFRNT 'Metafiction' 2xCD (On The Edge)
Deeper dubstep album from Scotland's DFRNT. After a succession of mp3 only releases on his own Echodub imprint he's compiled an album of sparse ambient-textured dubstep influenced by the likes of 2562, Scuba, Breakage or Indigo. The first disc comprises entirely new material while a second disc rounds up remixes from Dub House dude Quantec, Synkro, Ital Tek and Scuba. Very nice indeed. Qty: 2 Item No. 10950 $18.09 El Rakkas 'Seas of Disease' in+CD (Lodubs) Remixed by LV / XI  Item No. 10601 $9.09

Pursuit Grooves 'Fox Trot Mannerims' CD (Tectonic)
Hyper-healthy astro-hiphop grooves from Brooklyn's Pursuit Grooves landing quite unexpectedly on Tectonic. It's a brave departure for a label that's solely associated with dubstep but one that pays off in incredible style with seven tracks of unheard styles akin to Pattie Blingh plugging into Fly Lo's Sendai and setting her vectors for Sun Ra's space temple in sector 17. Her lyrics commendably deal with conscious issues but to be honest we're pretty distracted by her intuitively spiraling space grooves to give them our full attention. From the stooped hiphop swing of 'Pressure' to the decaying astro-step rhythms and slivers of Moog on 'Mr Softee' through to the ultra-modern disco of 'Shabaps' or the lucid juke-boogie dreams of 'Whisper' Vanese Smith is giving us the future on a plate and we're hungry as f*ck. 'Fox Trot Mannerisms' is quite a stunning collection that should take a few minutes to settle in, but a few months to really get a grip on. Recommended to fans of owt from Toro Y Moi to Ras G and back again - very very good indeed. Item No. 11489 $10.49

Breakage 'Foundation' 2x12in (Digital Soundboy)
Breakage aka James Boyle is never been one to be pigeonholed. Moving effortlessly through styles from and bass to dubstep, Breakage has proved himself to be one of the most versatile operators in either scene to date. A prodigious talent, he already has a number of classic releases under his belt but continues to develop his sound. Combining rich tones and a sense of spaciousness in the mix, Breakage's music is both subtle yet devastatingly effective. His debut album, 2006's 'This Too Shall Pass' gained wide spread critical acclaim and included some slower tempo material, hinting at what was to come. *  James signed with Shy FX's mighty Digital Soundboy imprint in 2007, and soon turned heads with the haunting half-time beats of 'Clarendon b/w Shroud'. It came as no surprise that he would make waves in the dubstep community with his next release, 'Callahan b/w Untitled', after having remixed one of the scene's biggest tracks to date, Benga & Coki's 'Night', alongside Shy FX as Digital Soundboy. 2009 has seen Breakage cemented himself as 'one to watch  across the British dance music press and taste-making elite. Previous releases were named by Zane Lowe as his ‘Hottest Record In The World’ on his Radio 1 show. *  Following on from the superb 'Together', Breakage released ‘Run Em O ft. Roots Manuva b/w 'Higher in October 2009 to massive critical acclaim. Then came 'Hard' feat. Newham Generals and David Rodigan in early Dec, which exploded across the clubs and national airwaves, becoming unquestionably one of the biggest underground releases of 2009. *  RADIO PLAY: Radio 1, 1Xtra, Galaxy and Kiss FM from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank, Giles Peterson, Ras Kwame, Toddla T, Mary Anne Hobbs, Mista Jam, Redlight, Sinden, DJ MK and many more. *  Now comes the highly anticipated sophomore LP 'Foundation  on Digital Soundboy. Features on the record come courtesy of Burial, Roots Manuva, David Rodigan, Newham Generals, Kemo, Zarif, Erin and more. Expect bass heavy quality music with a broad appeal. *  The new single ‘Speechless’ featuring Donaeo has already been described as a ground-breaking record, marrying dubstep and indie with emotive R&B vocals. With a European tour under way, plus remix & production credits for Massive Attack, Florence & The Machine, David Guetta, Virgin Records, Aswad, Sidney Sampson, and many more all forthcoming, Breakage has laid the foundation. Now he’s ready to blow.. Item No. 10344 $22.99

Capone  'Fly Away / What I Do ' 12in (Test)
A // FLY AWAY: Huge track been doing damage for some time on dancefloor and still is. Fly Away starts off with its softly sung vocal hook and beautiful synth chords reminiscent of the early Chicago / Detroit years !! The intro keeps with the atmospheric simplicity that's leads to the audio explosion that drop in with it synth and bass led bass riff but still holds together a balance of electro based melodies and hard drum and bass instrumentation. Another Test recordings classic !! *
AA // WHAT I DO: Another Dubplate monster makes it to vinyl !! What I Do is another audio mash-up of early house synths, dnb jump up beats and twisted basslines !! The string intro leads into the dancefloor designed angry bassline stepping beats and vocal hooks. The track switches from synth and b-lines to keep the energy up! Chook 'Grayskull' 12in (Full Force)
Chook is that artist, and The Cocoon, Chook's debut long-playing project, moves beautifully through drum & bass, minimal techno and stunning ambient soundscapes without pausing for breath. The Cocoon is the culmination of half a decade's worth of hard work. Starting out in 2004, Chook launched Full Force Recordings as an output for the fierce and disturbing side of European techno influenced drum & bass. The label garnered support right from the off with DJs as diverse as Roni Size, J Majik and Calyx & Teebee all queuing up to work Full Force's releases into their sets. Chook, alongside friends such as Germany's Phace (Subtitles), New Zealand's State of Mind (Shogun Audio) and USA's Mayhem (Ram Records) put the label firmly on the map with tracks from some of the world's finest breakbeat artists, keeping the music policy as credible, long-lasting D&B. Now, five years since he started Full Force, Chook delves deeper into his influences, spreading his wings as a producer without resorting to cheap tricks and sheep-like trend following. From the growling bass of Optimus Prime through to the inchperfect elements of Time Running Backwards and the building, spacious progression of Toontown, The Cocoon is a lesson in staying true to your beliefs and sticking the middle finger to those who dare question your motives. Some might consider that a lost art in drum & bass these days. Item No. 11217 $11.99

Code 3 'Living Proof / Response Call' 12in (Exit) Finish copy.
Living Proof sees Code 3 come with their next eagerly awaited lesson in subtle dance floor devastation. A paranoia inducing soundscape sets the scene, combining with an ever-building groove that takes the listener further into the depths with each ugly turn. Dropping with a wall of sub bass, it’s clear why this tune is also known as the 'rig tester'. Choice effects, distorted fizz and hits bounce off one another giving the track an irresistible groove and a real heads down feel. The sub bass assault is unrelenting and demands the listeners undivided attention. Hurting the clubs worldwide and included by dBridge & Instra:mental in their Fabric Live 50 mix CD, Living Proof is a tune you need in your box right now. From the off the organic and springy Bristol inspired drums reveal that this track is poised to be a heavyweight roller, perfect to kick off any set. The sub creeps in almost immediately and the intention is clear, this one’s made for skanking. A constantly evolving and morphing bass line layered upon funky edits and retro sound effects will have people moving throughout. Response Call completes another must have record from Code 3, ones to watch very closely this year. Item No. 10346 $13.99

Data 'Visualizations Vol. 1' 2x12in (Horizons Music)
Reaching into his pocket and deftly lighting another Herbus, Case stepped out onto the streets of The Sprawl, the acidic rain bouncing off the high-tech weave manufactured into his jacket. The grey dome as always loomed overhead, protecting the world from the harmful rays of their past ignorance. People brushed past him, making his hand instinctively reach for where his wallet once would have been. No need for that now, not with the Veri-Chip credit implant being standardised.’ * Following on from the success of ‘The Prologue EP’ Horizons Music and Data are
roud to present ‘Visualization Vol.1' the first in a series of EPs to be released over this year and beyond. Conceptually, the EPs represent Data’s continued exploration into cinematic, abstract and experimental sound, based around the theme of a bleak, dystopian future. From the staggered and fragmented information held within ‘Tapeworm' to the twisted and broken ‘Mask of Sanity’ Volume 1 takes you on another journey through the Sprawl, where anything can happen. FD / Hydro & Keza 'Canopy' 12in (Critical Music)
New blood alert! Bringing through yet more untapped talent is the people’s choice, Critical Music, who bring us the debut release from a trio of boxfresh producers that’s already been doing damage with those lucky enough to have it. With FD being one of the brains behind possibly the most forward-thinking drum and bass event in London, Medium, you know before listening the force is strong on this one. Beautifully breezy pads open up ‘Canopy’ and a straight down the line break gets things moving nicely as added percussion seaps in along the way before the drop. Out go the pads and in comes a refreshingly spacious arrangement of percussive FX and thumping deep subs perfect for those dark late-night dance floors. Wait for the sumptuous atmospherics to return and you can’t help but be swept away by the groove as it carries us all the way to the end. A bit special. Then on to ‘Remorse’ and the guys spook things out a little with a ghostly whispered samples and an off-kilter break rolling under paranoid synth stabs and pads. As more booming subs kick in the pace picks up with shuffling snares and heavily filtered sonics that fill the speakers to drive it forward hard, while still retaining a huge sense of space that’ll see this in the DJ boxes at the deeper end of the spectrum. Item No. 10345 $11.99

The Brazilian can do no wrong! Item No. 11574 $22.99

S.P.Y. 'Out Of The Blue / Eclipse' 12in (Traffic) Fresh from his massive release on DJ Die's Clear Skyz label, S.P.Y rocks up on Traffic to drop a polished twelve that bristles with thinly veiled menace. Stuttering breaks, high tension pads and bursts of static introduce 'Out Of The Blue', before unleashing the distorto drums and 20,000 volt bassline, laced with echoing laser stabs, and snatches of oldskool mentasm. On the flip, 'Eclipse' starts out innocuously enough, clouds of sound swirling about the springy drums, with dashes of dark rave flavour hinting at what's to come, a snarling, wild animal midrange that prowls menacingly across the dark landscape. Item No. 11843 $12.69

Total Science feat Riya 'Redlines' 12in (Critical Music)
As we head into the warmer months camp Critical brings a true sunshine release from one of D&B’s tour de force production duos, Total Science. The original jungle dons push all the right buttons here as they team up with Riya for a sumptuous vocal excursion like no other. ‘Redlines’ has already been given the thumbs up by the likes of Mistajam and Ras Kwame on BBC Radio 1/1xtra and it’s not hard to see why. A solid locked groove rolls from the start on this one with a polished break and beautiful melancholic piano hook that draw you in before the real treat begins; when Riya’s gorgeous vocal drops in your heart will melt. Effortless audio bliss for all the lovers out there. Things then toughen up 10-fold on the flip as the Total Science party boys drop ‘Skinz’, a crisp and dry piece of Bristol-esque D&B with a thugged-out b-line that’s had clubs shaking all over for the past six months. Xample & Lomax 'Remember / Rushin' Dragon' 12in (Ram) High Limited White label.
Xample & Lomax begin their quest for their debut album and world domination with the anthemic Remember. Having caused havoc for the past 6 months or so on dance floors worldwide, we're finally ready to unleash this monster of a track. This is without doubt one of the most talked about and requested tracks for release that Ram has had in recent times. Rushin Dragon, flips the switch and goes low down deep and techy. Distorted bleeps kick off the organic growth into a manic juggernaut of a track that takes you on one hectic cyber journey. The intensity keeps you locked and addicted for more and wanting to hitch a lift. Item No. 11239 $11.99

1000names 'Illuminated Man' 2x12in (Black Acre)
If you dig deep back through Hip Hop’s many evolutionary sub-species you’ll find 1000names. Their presence, a herald of change sharing vinyl releases with early Rustie beats or hidden among tracklistings on trailblazing compilations dropped in foetal stages of the post funk movement. As (not so) unsung heroes of the B-side it was only a matter of time before this Bulgarian duo’s shine broke through the fog. Following in the success of their limited 10” the painter/drummer combo of Casio Blaster & 99 Mistakes have blessed the Black Acre Orphanage with 10 tracks of funereal funk and Blissful astro travel. * Illuminated Man represents a more mournful, deep and melancholic twist on 1000name’s trademarked poly-funk producing their most relevant and complete piece of work to date. From the outset archives of Afro-beat science and spacefunk tribal percussion are raided to produce the backbone of the Illuminated Man sound. On occasion grooves are stretched unselfconsciously throughout tracks like “Long Early Morning” and “Telephony 2000”, both executed with the confidence of a Berlin bred minimalist. * The continuous and hypnotic rhythms are punctuated by the haunted voices of disembodied conversation and disjointed fractured propaganda as heard in “Private Hero”. These left turns keep the listener engaged without losing a sense of continuity. While the organic heartbeats that drive songs like “Pocket Calculators” are decorated by luminous melodies and 8-bit scripture, the uptempo grooves give the album a listening longevity without sacrificing any playful accessibility. Item No. 11577 $21.99

Becoming Real 'Fast Motion' 12in (Ramp Recordings) Remixed by DVA Becoming Real is a young producer residing in a forgotten suburbia, busy channeling his very own postapocalyptic vision of London. A spectre-like entity flitting between a range of electronic frequencies, his self-termed 'Ghost-Step' sound is as much influenced by a conceptual future dystopia as by luminaries Zomby &Mount Eerie. Re-imagining the iciest of grime synths through a warped K Records aesthetic, Becoming Real has forged a frozen universe that still retains an unequivocally human feel. Charged with future-dread, this is music for seas drowned in oil, tar-coated forest landscapes, and a prophesised world of underwater clubs and haunted dancefloors. After a sold out debut white label release last year, Becoming Real is ready to emerge in 2010 with the release of 'Fast Motion' / 'Jen's Clock', backed with a Scratcha DVA remix of Fast Motion. Item No. 11640 $13.99

Blawan 'Fram / Iddy' 12in (Hessle Audio) Finish copies. Limited supply.
Hessle Audio’s thirteenth excursion comes from Blawan, a 22-year-old producer from Barnsley, Yorkshire. This is Blawan’s debut release. Hessle Audio was formed in Leeds in early 2007 by David Kennedy, Ben Thomson and Kevin McAuley. The label has released tunes by TRG, Martyn, James Blake, Pangaea, Ramadanman / Pearson Sound, Joe and Untold. In addition, Hessle Audio tunes have appeared on compilations by Tempa, Soul Jazz and Global Underground. Hessle Audio hold a residency at London club Fabric. Item No. 10983 $12.19

Cosmin TRG 'See Other People' 12in (Rush Hour Direct Current)
The DC series continues with Cosmin TRG, known for his releases on Hotflush and Tempa a.o. ‘See Other People’ is an infectious garage stepper, announcing the future of r&b. Big tune! ‘Groove Control’ continues on a techno tip. It starts off deep and mysterious, evolving in a pulsating, acidic bassline driven killer. We like TRG! Item No. 10696 $13.99

Cyrus (Random Trio) 'Space Cadet / Junk Yard' 12in (Tectonic) Random Trio's Cyrus returns to Tectonic with two minimal stepper riddims. "Space Cadet" takes the stripped-down minimal approach to an extreme. Once the otherworldly atmospherics and fizzing hi-hats drift away, the beat comes rolling in -- rock solid and uncompromising. Kick, hat, snare and, of course -- stomach-shaking subs that lay low down and heavy. "Junk Yard" features a relentless, double-time bass while strange, atmospheric stabs emerge like alien beasts lurking just beneath the surface. More quality bass weight. Item No. 11481 $12.99

Dark Arx 'Blood Vein' 12in (Dark Arx)
The second release from the Dark Arx imprint sees the label head step up to the plate with an E.P release of his own. Released on May 3rd 2010, Blood Vein and Streak balance heavyweight swung rhythms with scorched Detroit melodics. Final track Argent & Sable strips the beats to leave a soundscape of dusted drones and bass tones. this release compresses these musical roots, blending the hypnotic structures of techno and emotive electronics with dance-primed rhythms of the UK's shape-shifting bass scene. Sonic comparisons include Peverelist, Scuba, the technicians of the Berlin scene and the Basic Channel continuum. Item No. 10981 $12.19 Dark Sky 'Something ZTo Lose / Ghostnotes' 12in (Black Acre) Qty: 1 Item No. 11921 $11.99

dBridge 'Producer #2 Remix' 12in (Fat City)
Remixed by Shed / Ramadanman Serious remix session from Shed and Ramadanman tackling dBridge's killer 'ZX81' from the 'Producer #2' compilation! No joke, Shed's remix is quite possibly the best track we've heard from him since the album a few years back. With a bulbous, slow-motion Reese bass, scissoring hi-hats and the kind of bumpy bass swing that made 'Another Wedged Chicken' so addictive, the Berlin maverick has crafted a lethal tune that's guaranteed to be in our boxes for years to come. For his mix, the prolific Ramadanman works with dance-weirding pitch bends and the kind of future-tribalist syncopations that made his Pearson Sound tracks and the recent 'Glut' 12" for Hemlock so bloody crucial. In this case, he's overshadowed by the towering mix on the flip, but who the f**k is complaining?! Essential dancefloor weight for all crew! Item No. 11854 $13.19

Digital Mystikz  'Return II Space' 3x12in (DMZ)
Produced by Mala As half of the Digital Mystikz production unit and label, Mala has practically revolutionized UK dance music. The reverberations of those earliest DMZ platters and their subsequent evolutions have now spread virus-like into new stylistic hosts, with mutant traces assimilated into everything from the new M.I.A album to the Berlin nightscape. With ultra-high production values indebted to the dub and soundsystem culture he grew up alongside, Mala re-encoded the subbass memes of Jungle, Garage and Dancehall into a new form of half-timed pressure, putting emphasis on a slower, dread-infused style of dancefloor tension, now known as Dubstep. For many 'Return II Space' is the most anticipated album of the last half decade, a definitive statement from one of UK Bass music's most venerated practitioners, loaded with exclusive dubs previously only heard in his presence at the weighiest dances. Split over 3 heavy 12"s, each marked with individual DMZ catalogue numbers, the album rolls with it's own sense of space and pace that's incredibly unique to Mala's imagination. The delicate contrast of glassy keys and skull quivering subs in 'Unexpected' starts the dance according to his mantra of "Meditate On Bassweight' before turning to the sci-fi darkside with the extraordinary dreadnaught vibes of 'Pop Pop Epic', a hulking ten tonne stepper staring red-eyed and ready from yer quaking speaker cones. The scrunched synth and visceral pressure of fan's favourite 'Eyez' makes an appearance on the second plate, backed with the creepily affective special 'Mountain Dread March', and a final disc presents the tentatively probing keys of 'Livin Different' replete with Ital subbass harmonics and finally the gargantuan skank of the title track, built fi dem wha' do. Perhaps our only gripe with the album is that he could have flexed out on a wider range of tempos, but that's really only a small concern as the tracks we do have are f**king outstanding. Highly recommended. Item No. 11950 $39.99

DJ Madd (Ikonika Remix) 'Flex'd / Detroit Skank' 12in (Boka)
It’s a special one as Boka Records enlists the services of the current Queen of underground Electronic music IKONIKA for a post-garage relick of ‘Flex’d’ (the original was released on DJ Madd’s ‘Better With You EP’ – BOKA020). It was first showcased by Alleycat on her highly successful Kokeshi Podkast series and is currently garnering support from Mary Anne Hobbs (Radio 1) and Martyn (3024). It’s certainly a musical departure for the Boka camp but 2010 has been all about diversifying and showcasing all styles within the realms of bass music. DJ Madd is on a heater right now with support for his music coming from all angles, and so the time is right to release argueably his biggest and most supported track ‘Detroit Skank’, first showcased on Skream‘s ‘Stella Sessions’ radio show on RinseFM. It’s a beast of a roller which expertly incorporates dub and techno influences, the bassline on this one is absolutely sick, the likes of Headhunter, Skream, RSD and Akira Kiteshi have been utilising it in the raves to devastating effect. [5/24/2010] Qty: 1 Item No. 11404 $11.99

Doctor P / Trolley Snatcha 'Badman Sound / Slowdown' 12in (Dub Police)
Dub Police continue to release some of the scenes most in demand tunes and this single is no exception. The man of the minute Doctor P steps up with a serious club banger in the shape of 'Badman Sound', which has gained huge support from the likes of Caspa, N-Type, Skream, The Others & many more of the scenes big hitters. Squelching bass, tonk beats and a serious catchy lead that you will be singing for days after; all combined to make this one massive track! The flip side doesn't take any prisoners either, but this time it's the turn of the man who spends way too much time hanging around outside supermarkets; Trolley Snatcha. Featured on the Scion A/V & Dub Police CD, 'Slow Down' will already be well known by a lot of you eager dubhunters out there with it's relentless basslines, stomping beats and cheeky Middle Eastern melodies. All in all this is a single you can't afford to pass on - an essential slab of plastic from Dub Police once again [6/21/2010] Item No. 11959 $12.99

Gemmy 'Maroon Chant / Late For Athens' 12in (Earwax)
Earwax is very proud to present this huge 12” from ‘Purple Trinity’ producer Gemmy, guaranteed to cause serious sonic pressure on a dancefloor near you! ‘Maroon Chant’ is possibly one of Gemmy’s biggest tunes yet, a carefully crafted dancefloor monster brim with catchy purple melodic synths and heavy weight bass. The intro leads in with a looped tribal chant as the pattern is sucked into rolling snapping percussion before the squelching, ever-evolving bassline drops. The track build and flows effortlessly maintaining high energy levels throughout. Big tune. Flip then for ‘Last 3 Digits’ – the title being a reference to pirate radio shows where the host refers to callers by the last 3 digits of their phone number. “Let me have 1 caller for the rewind”. Heavy hitting rave stabs punch out the catchy melody here before the track switches up into a grimey beat and even grimier bassline. Quality rave music. DJ Support From: Joker, Roska, Pinch, Mary Anne Hobbs, Guido, Ginz, Reso, Baobinga, Appleblim, Peverelist, RSD, Plastician Dusk & Blackdown, and many more. Item No. 11643 $12.39

Guido 'Anidea' 2x12in (Punch Drunk Records)
‘Anidea’ is the debut album from young Bristol based producer Guido, who alongside Joker and Gemmy, has trail blazed his way to the forefront of UK dance music. His two 12” releases, ‘Orchestral Lab’ and ‘Beautiful Complication’ on Peverelist’s Punch Drunk label in 2009, and recently completed remixes for Island Records and Tectonic Records, have garnered Guido extensive press coverage from ist underground blogs to The Guardian broadsheet. This album is the first to emerge from the trio, who have already made an indelible mark on UK underground music. Guido cut his teeth in the embryonic mid-decade Bristol Grime scene, producing instrumental’s for MCs and vocalists culminating in his ‘Unleashed’ mixtape in 2006. His production style shares the ultra vivid colour, melody and rugged texture of golden era Davinche, Skepta and Ruff Squad’s Rapid but also the playfulness and pop sensibility of Timbaland or Neptunes without losing underground edge or appeal Item No. 11224 $22.99

I.D 'Mustang EP' 12in (Sub Slayers)
Next up on the unstoppable machine that is Sub Slayers is the first in a series of artists focused releases which allows for a slew of beats ranging from dubstep thru to urban fused breaks. Heading up this monster package is Mustang which proves outright that I.D. is on the ball when it comes to bassline rollers. Fresh Air is a true classic that rides the balance between Dubstep and Breaks in true I.D. form! Tell Ya once again see’s I.D. show just how the Sub Slayers sound fuses the boundaries in a dirty bassline fashion. Slope is the for all the smokers out there; deep, melodical and bass heavy! But what about the man himself? Well after two critically acclaimed albums and dozens of successful singles, I.D., both solo and with regular conspirator Baobinga, now pulls together fresh influences to create a brand new style, fusing dubstep, garage, ragga, house and  hip-hop, seen most recently through the new album 'Bass Music Sessions', the worldwide success of their blog 'Bass Music Blog', and the numerous aliases covering the whole bass music spectrum. Another Sub Slayers classic in the making… [6/21/2010] Item No. 11957 $12.49

Ikonika 'Idiot' 12in (Hyperdub) Remixed by Altered Natives Due for release one week after Ikonika’s debut CD ‘Love, Contact, Want, Have’, ‘Idiot’ is the first in a series of picture sleeve 12”s taken from the album backed with remixes from some of Hyperdub’s favourite current producers. ‘Idiot’ is already something of a hit with those who’ve heard it being played out, combining hard soca drums with lush ecstatic melodic synth harmonies and a driving bass with a strange 8-bit melody that stumbles and trips around the rhythm. It’s completely alien at first, but potent enough to stick in your ears until you might catch yourself humming the refrain when you least expect it. A unique and fantastic combination of compelling contemporary sounds. Altered Natives, aka North London producer Danny Native, whose track ‘Rass Out’ was one of 2009’s best, takes over the B-side with a remix that seems to reflect 20 years of British house music back on itself. Just using the bleeps from the original tune, he echoes and morphs his own melody over stepping dubby kicks and snares and a dark, driving bassline. Qty: 1 Item No. 10883 $13.69

Illum Sphere 'Titan' 12in (3024) Illum Sphere becomes only the second producer aside from 2562 to release a solo 12" on Martyn's revered 3024 label. With lead track 'Titan' he augments his squashed sound with a housier head, albeit in the modern, UK mongrel sense of the term. The track rolls on a 124bpm flex with all the melodic energy and dancefloor drive concentrated on a phosphorescent lead synth line, birthed as a delicate buzz but evolving into a blazing signature with calligraphic swirls and a hint of Zomby in its offset stagger. On the flip 'Go Killum' compresses a heavy electro-hop groove until the subs spill out the bottom and effervescent gases escape into the upper strata. Finally 'Technopolis' rubs a salty electro synth over moody post-Detroit beatdown grooves padded with deep subs. For deeper 5am boogie heads - a must! Item No. 11159 $12.19

Joe 'Untitled / Digest' 12in (Apple Pips)
With the success of our last releases getting props and plays from DJs as diverse as Erol Alkan, DJ T, Martyn, Deetron, & Rob Da Bank we are really excited to present our next slice of futuristic funk for your ears and booty from the extremely talented Joe. With his debut, the awesome ‘Grimelight’, being released on Hessle Audio, Joe is part of a loose group of likeminded and futurethinking producers & DJs that includes Hessle Audio’s Ramadanman, Ben UFO, & Pangaea, and Untold & James Blake. Whilst they all have very individual sounds, they share a vision of dubstep, uk funky, techno & house influenced beats that seem to defy genre. The A-side ‘Untitled’ is a huge stepping wad of funk, bringing to mind 2-step, early Skream & Benga, even stripped down grime classics like Pulse X, but with a truly contemporary twist. This tune drops hard, and has been a secret weapon of Appleblim’s for some time now – he was pleasantly surprised to see ravers of all ages go mad to it! The flip sees Joe’s more experimental leanings come out on ‘Digest’, but he never forgets the groove and funk. With rolling percussion, steppy sub bass and shiny analogue synth stabs cutting through, it seems to us like a mixture of Mala from Digital Mystikz and Theo Parrish! High praise indeed… DJ/Radio support coming from Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC Radio 1), Modeselektor, Peverelist, Rob Da Bank (Radio 1/Bestival), Paul Woolford, Ramadanman, Brackles, Appleblim & many more. Item No. 11833 $12.99

Kryptic Minds 'Wasteland / Hybrid' 12in (Osiris Music) After the success of their last release 'Cold Blooded' with 'Youngsta', Kryptic Minds are back for the ninth release on their own Osiris music uk label; in the shape of this stunning thought provoking 2 track twelve. Kryptic Minds are leading the way with their high quality signature sound of dark minimal bass driven music; if you are a fan or their latest out put this release will not disappoint. Wasteland can only be described as a hard hitting head nodder; with a skippy hat pattern, that keeps you moving. Minimal but effective. Hybrid has more of a sparse beat than the flip with some serious low end frequency's. As always these tracks are best listened to in a dark room with a sound system big enough to rattle your chest! [6/28/2010] Qty: No. 11952 $12.99

Kryptic Minds & Youngsta  'Cold Blooded' 12in (Osiris Music)
Combining razor sharp production from Kryptic Minds alongside Youngsta’s deep knowledge of bass and atmospherics, ‘Cold Blooded b/w Surge.’ = Heavy skanking Dubstep with no side order of cheese whatsoever! Supprted by N-Type, Cyrus, Youngsta, Tunnidge and played regular on Rinse FM. One for the heads, don’t sleep on this! Qty: No. 10900 $12.99

Kyle Hall 'Kaychunk' 12in (Hyperdub)
After his remix of darkstar's 'aidy's girl is a computer' at the end of last year, hyperdub were quick to request an ep from kyle hall, and these two fantastic tracks are the outcome. just 18 years old and hailing from detroit, kyle hall has been getting a lot of attention after releasing several eps on his own wild oats label, plus a one-sided single for omar s' fhxe imprint. however, this is his first full release for another label. both tracks inhabit an interzone between live and mechanical music, full of details and fills that lend a playful, hands-on feel. 'kaychunk' wraps lush arpeggios and classic warm detroit strings around shuffling syncopated drums into an upbeat track that's almost a mirror image of uk funky. 'you know what i feel' combines 2-step kicks that sound like rain hitting wood, with great clouds of bittersweet chords, a see-sawing bassline, and a rich swooning melody that echoes stevie wonder's classic '70s synth-drenched soul. Qty: 1 Item No. 10698 $13.19

LV & Quanta 330 / Dong 'Hylo / Suzuran' 12in (Hyperdub)
Two collaborative tracks from Quarta 330 and LV, made when the pair met the day after Hyperdub's fifth anniversary party in November last year. These tunes exemplify the kind of meeting of minds where the best of both procucers comes to the surface, as Quarta 330's 8-bit abstraction and melodic sense contrasts nicely with LV's characteristic lush figures and shuffling rhythms. 'Hylo' finds 8-bit melodies made from rebuilt Gameboys and sonar-like bleeps weaved into the crunchy snap of a reverse drum beat and warm chords, breaking down into a sonorous motif before stepping up the pace once more. It's an energetic mix of brittle and lush sounds. On the AA side, 'Suzuran' is a joint remix of Quarta 330's own remix of Japanese chiptunes artists Dong. LV places the slurring space pop of the Japanese vocoder vocal melody inside a remix constructed from syncopated drums and offkey bleeping patterns. The results are catchy and alien, as melodic sweetness is juxstaposed with the tension of the setting.Item No. 11162 $13.19

Matty G 'My 808's / Turf W*rz' 12in (Dub Police) Matty G is a pioneer of the US Dubstep scene. Since his debut release on the Argon imprint in 2006, Matty has ceaselessly pushed his unique brand of hip hop inspired 808 bass workouts that have been destroying clubs the world over. Item No. 11644 $12.39

Pearson Sound 'Down With You / Higher' 12in (Darkestral Galaxicos)
Ushering in a new project for Darkestral, Pearson Sound AKA Rmadanman gradually opens out a warmly shimmering pad over delicate percussion track that glows over an undercurrent of soft bass propulsion and makes explicit an emotive, hazy, laidback vibe for the ensuing long summer days ahead on the delightful 'Down With You'.Item No. 11529 $13.99

Pursuit Grooves 'Fox Trot Mannerisms' 12in (Tectonic) 12" EP version.
This the debut full solo release by Brooklyn-based producer and MC Vanese Smith aka Pursuit Grooves, and her first for the Tectonic label. Unexpected, and yet somehow perfectly at home on Tectonic. Props to Pinch for his consummate A&R skill sets, though no doubt this would also bless labels such as Motown, Stones Throw, Hyperdub or even Rush Hour's Beat Dimensions series, where Ms. Grooves debuted. In these times of overhyped one-trick, nu-jacks it's a rare blessing indeed to discover such an accomplished and original artist with a vision and flow to ignite flames for all the true-school heads and still bring new ears to this stylish music. Altogether it makes the best soundtrack to midnight inner-city motoring, it will work brilliantly in beat-driven club situations with its effortless production science to the fore. "Pressure" drops like a lost Erykah Badu & Madlib collaboration, Miss Smith's vocal here is even a little reminiscent of Badu's considerable stylings, but watch out girlfriend, she flows with the best in a style somewhat similar to Bahamadia. "Start Somethin'" rocks the downtempo beat-down harder than most, and is the most electronic-feeling cut on this album -- vicious fuzz bass lines, filthy claps, oiled snares and block-rocking cut-up beats. Drop this in a DJ set and watch all crew get busy. If you had to pick a single highlight, then "Shabaps" might well be it. A heavyweight hip-hop roller, all luscious bass frequencies and cosmic synth drifts that keeps an upful tempo for maximum bugging fully on lockdown. "Whisper" dubs it heavy like a feather, all bubbling, Mantronik-style 808 beats with melting jazz piano drops and a sweetly mysterious, softly-spoken vocal. "Tweezers" adds a 2-step electro flex to an L.A./Detroit hip-hop feel -- mind-blowing stuff on headphones, only still built for the biggest systems. "Mister Softee" is perhaps the most traditional-sounding hip-hop cut -- turn out the lights, because the delivery here is world class '010 -- we reach the outro refreshed by a cooling breeze on a mad hot summer day. This album is big with Kode9 and company already, so get on this soon! Item No. 11480 $15.99

Raffertie '7th Dimension' 12in (Planet Mu)
Planet Mu kicks off 2010 with an energetic blast from one of the UK's most original producers. Hailing from the south coast and now based in Birmingham, Raffertie is a 21-year old DJ / producer who weaves the DNA of multiple dance music micro-genres into an exuberant chimera. His work has garnered much acclaim from the likes of Simon Reynolds and Mary Anne Hobbs. The musician's sugar-rush sound takes a turn in a different direction with his latest release. On 7th Dimension Raffertie sends a half-speed dubstep intro, cosmic strings borrowed from a '92 rave record and a panting diva sample into a black hole and out the other end. He adds psychedelic effects and a stomping 4/4 beat before bringing the whole thing back down into a dark and frantic bleep-and-bass workout. Item No. 11479 $9.99

Redlight 'Stupid ft. Roses Gabor/ Stupid (Instrumental)' 12in (Digital Soundboy) White label.
Redlight is a Bristol-based artist navigating the unnamed airspace between house, breakbeats, dubstep and other well-loved dance music sounds.  Having already crafted a handful of jet-propelled bangers which have won over early fans and followers including Skream, Toddla T, Jack Beats, Goldie, Carl Cox, Pete Tong and Annie Mac Redlight now looks set to become a high-flyer. Redlight has spent more recent weeks putting in some serious studio time working on solo productions; collaborations with Rusko and fellow Bristol boy Ben Westbeech; as well as remixes of Roots Manuva, Little Boots, Pendulum, Toddla T, Hockey, Athlete. Item No. 10357 SALE PRICE $10.99

Sigha & Spherix 'Seperation / Lesser People' 12in (Immerse) Finish copies.
Southern Australia’s Spherix has been plugging away for some time, releasing great tunes on a selection of labels, and Immerse have spotted his talent and snapped up a cracking twelve. In collaboration with London’s Sigha, ‘Seperation’ is a pounding atmospheric thumper, silken threads of sound woven around pulsing beats and surgical percussion, expertly designed and constructed to create perpetual forward motion. ‘Lesser People’ is somewhat harder - crisp drums, ticking hats and solid bass drones flying past at supersonic speed as insane tech FX rip the veryair asunder. Accomplished and advanced. 9/10 [recommended] [DJ ThinKing, IDJ issue 117]
