i've finally worked up the courage to come into the wip thread woohoo

@CenturySam - I love the intro and the panning you have going on, I feel like it's separating my head haha. I like the rest too the only thing is I feel like the sound that's going the most at 1:50 should be a little different throughout, but I'm not sure how. It just doesn't seem right to me. Overall I like it though.

@drooka - first thing that stood out to me was your kick, i like the weight it has to it. as far as creativity goes i'm shit for that but I did like when you had the bass go for a little bit longer and changed it up, like at 2:00. maybe do that a little bit more I think you could work with that enough to keep it interesting for awhile

@randorando - love the intro & buildup, love the drums, overall good tune

**warning first time working with soundcloud sorry if this link is shit**
this is so repetitive i know but i'm just stuck on ways to change it up, any help?

@BudSpencertron - liking the broken bits of perc in the 2nd WIP (Brummelbart). I think there's opportunity for some melodic elements in there for sure, but I like the backbone of the track you have here. Very chill

@NorCoDubstep - I like the sound of the track, but you need to pull that snare up, I like the little tom breakdown rolls at the end of the bars. That "rudeboy sound" sample I would post-process and add some filtering or similar, perhaps chorus or distortion (or even vocoding) something to give it some movement, it's a little dry. I love the slightly cheesy keys in there, and the percussive elements you are playing with in the background

@mraural - very microfunk, but given the length of the snippet difficult to tell you what I think it's missing.

@hudson - "Mind-rhythm" in your sig. I really dig this vocal track (where's the vocal from?). Reminds me of Sneaker Pimps, T-Power, or even Baba Yaga/Kahn. Liking this a lot. The other WIP isn't showing up for me

@yoitsfrankd - You got the vowel sounding basses down for sure, I'd like to hear more sub, and some tougher snare work

@wubwubdubdub - "Logically Disturbed", there's something about that kick sample I just don't like, I think the sample must be clipped or similar, because it has a 2nd attack after the initial attack. I'm not hearing a sub in there either. The lead synth instrumentation has potential. My overall comment is the whole track sounds reverb soaked on the snare particularly. I like the little vocal snippet (even though it's well-known), there's opportunity to make that really interesting. Keep working on it.

@centurysam - I would like the perc a lot more upfront, the heavily panned bass synth is stomping all over the perc. The little holds and stuff are cool.

@drooka - Liking the vibe on this, late night listener for me for sure. Good atmos on the perc. After the drop I'd drop the pitchbending synth line and replace it with something (as to what, well that's more difficult *grin*)

@randorando - like the drum fills mate the only criticism I'd make is the drum kit sounds a little "GM", if you swapped that out you'd have some interesting, the first drop is lovely. Builds tension, but it's a little long for me. Nice alternate lead sounds bouncing in and out.

@mikeyp - Welcome ;) Comments, perc (snare particularly) is a little thin sounding, and I think the resonant hihat is not helping. I'd try some more automation with the bassline, record some filter modulations or similar. I like the keys, and the orchestral pad sounds. Bit more work on the instrumentation and I think you'll have decent track here.

@Micleyp : Your hats & snare needs to be cut in the top end frequencies, your bassline is not too bad, but it needs a bit more punch to me. Good job anyway and don't be afraid of posting wip, no one bites in theory :>

@Randorando : Very nice intro, the build up is pretty good. I can't understand what your drop is, sounds strange around 2.00. The second drop seems better, less messy. Everything else on the track is fine, well produced !

@Drooka : Chilled stuff is good, but your mixdown is too loud, no high frequencies are clear ( sorry but i don't know to say it in english ). Like the delays & revervbs effects .

Now there's my WIP, started this last night. I've just begin with the mixdown ( i just realise that i forget paning ) on this very early version. So any feedback is appreciated. Thx !

@ Darj;
Haha that vocal hook, never get tired of that one!
Those basslines could use some beefing up. Honestly would make them smoother to fit in more with that vocal hook.
Big things to come from that one tho!

@ Mikeyp;
Subtle note changes and adding all kinds of blips/effects will make the listener almost unaware that it's repetitive.
Your bassline seems extremely basic aswell tho. Try beefing it up, creating your signature sound.
Leaving some space for the ears could do miracles to the listeners ears aswell!

@ RandoRando;
Ez mate, already love your previous work!
Don't really like how that background synth growls at the middle of the intro tho.
Vocals sound sweet.
I love those drums at 1:40 man, sick work, builds alot of tension!
That first synth at 2:02 kind of ruins the drop tbh, seems a bit too soon aswell personally (i'm a fan of leaving space for drops.)
All in all nice track mate, keep it up!

@ Drooka;
Nice and dark intro mate. Sub seems a bit loud compared to the rest tho, maybe that was the plan, drums could be a tad higher tho.
This tune and a spliff would go hand in hand.

@ CenturySam;
Haha, nice work on this "oi oi oi"s!
Don't like those other synths tho. Seems like a weird recreation of Factory by Downlink.
I would honestly use that intro as my main part, that intro is sweet.

@ Yoitsfrankd;
Nice intro there, lots of vibes going on. Buildup is perfect.
Maybe a bit too "Oi"y for me tho. Pretty heavy track.

@ Jetpack;
Track feels a bit empty in my opinion. Nice groove to it tho!

MrAural;
It seems like everything can be added. Some piano/additional effects/vocals/Change in drum rythm.
Nice pad tho, really curious on that end result!

@ BudSpencertron;
First WIP wasn't available so posting on the second one.
Really love that bassline mate, love your style. Seems to me tho that that pad is interfering with the whole vibe. Don't know if it's just me.
Amazing track mate!

There we have it, yet another wall of text, hope some of you had anything from it.

Been working on this one for quite some time now. Finally mastered the art of mixdown on the amateur level.
A listen and some comments on what to change/add would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

thanks for tips!

cheers on feedback mateys, any yeah, idk if you guys have fm8..but if you have to "prime" it before you export lol. the first time fm8 plays a note its really loud for some reason then after that its fine, which explains why the second drop is better. and the wobbling thing in the beggining? i know it kind of sounds out of place, i tried making it fit in better in the newest mix i did but now the vocals are getting at me, i cant get them to sound decent. ill post some feedback later and post up my newer version. :W:

@rando rando love the drumwork in this one; maybe just sidechain the bassdrum to the sub or the midrange, depends what works better. sub is nice. maybe just give the midrange some more reverb and or chorus but thats just an idea.

@mikeyp whta you could do is work with different lfo speeds and frequency changes or switch from a saw? to a square stuff like that make some unexpected break
and come back to the track maybe with a drumroll or any kind of raising sound

@darj really nice mixdown but the snare feels personaly to low end based maybe layer a hi clap or punchy hip hop snare on top man i now that vocal clips but cant figure out where i know them haha :?

@cubicle love your piano work in this one adds a deep feeling the harsh melody change is nice imo some deep sub following pad would work nice in this one

@t3h bass wobbles nicely but wouldnt go for to many elements with this type of wobble. mixing wise i would check the lower ends and sharp high sounds. just take like bassdrum sub and midrange on solo and check where they clash.

got little bit further with my wips

@danimal- that melo/intro synth.. gorgeous bro; love how i expected a drop and got one about 2 seconds later ; nice! very good bass work. inspiring shit. was expecting something else to happen around the 3 minute mark for some reason.. its still awesome as shit tho.. again; that bass work = A.
@fluidmoshun- idk if that first track in yur sig is a wip.. but even if its not i'd like to say.. that shit is a gnikcuf banger bro.. those keys.. that violin.. would love a download. ( this comment does not count as a *3 feedback first rule, as i dont know wether or not its a wip.)
@craggle- your wip..makes me wanna ckuf a bitch ;; shit is absolute sex.. that synthline bro. awesome work man. defenently feelin' it and would love a download to that as well.
@cubicle - have yu ever chuckled to yurself while listening to a tune? because it reallys hits yu? yur tune just did that for me. those keys are RIDICULOUS. and that windy " wehhh wehhh" sound is tough! super deep bass and nice reverbed claps. nice.

with my latest wip ; i tried to get a little deep.. this is my first tune i plan on not making so "wild" so im sure its shit but ckuf it. i started this about an hour ago. i used the vocals from the late amy winehouse ; may she rest in peace.

@weedcali - deep vibes from out west ! that sub is tough as shit bro;, love those cynical pad/synths, diggin the subby kick too forsure. intricate wobs most def. killer track.no complaints. 320 me.

@CenturySam - bangin' intro; agree with drooka on the synth and yoi freqs mashin' up. really nice tho.

@wubwubdubdub- i really liek the midrange wob sounds and the synth in the back; all this really needs is a mixdown.

had this in my project folder for about a month in a half already.. started messing with it again today, dont know if yu guys are familiar with the orginal song ; check it out tho

@rebel - intense intro man had me hanging on the edge for the drop. if that synthbass at the end is going to be your main line then i'd throw a sub underneath or beef it up a bit if theres already one there. drums are huge. all in all a nice start man

@darj - sweet synth melody that you've got going, the slight panning you have on it really carves a spot in the soundstage for it. also, i really enjoy the vocal cuts and arrangement, makes for a nice groove. your bass was a little overpowering in the mix for my taste, but thats other than that, sweet track

@mikeyp - just a thought as far as changing it up goes, once you bring the melody back in after the break, maybe start filtering the bass out slowly, almost as if the 'insomnia' is subsiding

@drooka - bro yu defnently worked that acapella ; yu made it sound like an original.. idk if it is or not but still; the pads are killer.. bass is nice and heavy.. i love those vocals and the stuttering effects.. sick man, idk if thats a wip but w.e
as for my wip, i was defenently thinking of throwing a sub under there; it sounds too airy right now ; good looks on the fdbk, big up.

thanks much for the compliments man, yeah thats not a wip anymore haha, accidentally left it in my sig hopefully it wont get me in trouble in the wip thread :roll: but yeah, a sub in that tune and its solid as all hell.
heres my actual wip that i posted it a little ways up, still trying to figure out how to keep it fresh throughout.

didnt notice it ; the intro is solid as shit, no worries there..bass comes in perfect;; really dig those ambient sounds.. i liek how as the tracks goes along the hats stay steady; didnt even notice them for a bit but it was a pleasure when i found them again, those delays are stellar bro ; this seems pretty fresh to me; wish i had noticed this earlier, id like a 320.. goddamn it seems most producers (excluding myself) are highly underrated..

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post.

Here's the last track I was working on. I'm not quite finished with equalizing. What do you think of it? I guess technically you'd call it drumstep, not dubstep, but either way I'm posting it :P

Cheers
