Just finished

Ok, so I've never read anything by the man before and thought I'd give him a chance. I feel like there is truth to be found in parts but some just left me feeling.....
Anyways, I'm currently half way through this

Interesting stuff so far.

Recently finished reading 'Infinite Jest' for the third time. One of my favourites
Have you read Under the Skin by Michel Faber? Amazing, extremely unsettling book.

Just finished "Horseman, pass by" by Larry McMurtry. Such a great book. I highly recommend it. Very moving.

Yeah it's over a 1,000 pages. Pick up one of his books of short stories if you're daunted by the size of it: Girl With Curious Hair, or Oblivion: stories.

I can see it being challenging in a few different ways: the pace of discussion is so measured and slow, yet the subject is kind of... huge. Stuff you really need to stop and absorb periodically.

Also, the translation version can make a huge difference since Greek can be tricky when it comes to understanding what people several millennia ago actually 'meant.' There's a literalist school of thought and then there's a more poetic/touchy-feely school of thought. The latter's harder to pull off, but works better when done well.

Just finished this. Amazing book, prefer it to The Outsider.

Still not made my mind up about Burroughs. Thought Naked Lunch was better.

Well sunk into this.

Amazing.
Unfortunately I have the tenancy to believe alot of things I read :?

Although some parts are :u:
I have written this book as the result of orders received and which I have obeyed. Further, it is an account of events that happened to me personally - this I affirm.

I imagine that, to some extent, this extraordinary story will appear to some readers as science fiction - a story entirely invented - but I do not have the imagination that such a fabrication would require. This is not science fiction.

The reader of good faith will be able to recognise the truth in the message I transmit from my new friends to the people of the planet Earth.

This message, in spite of numerous references to races and religions, reflects neither racial nor religious bias on behalf of the author.

Anything by Iain M Banks. His Culture novels are amazing. The guy has a giant imagination and the writing skills to back it up.

Get to know.
