You would be mistaken. My friends use them for DJing/mixing and live shows with Ableton.

Did you happen to see the NanoKontrol?

You didn't really specify how you were doing your digital djing...in any case. Yes, you can use the NanoKontrol w/Ableton to DJ. It's entry level too.

Well, you did say budget. Plus you didn't mention what platform you are on.

Anyways, I've been rocking one of those NanoKontrols with Live until I get the APC40. It's cool, especially for $60 bucks. Not the best, but it works fine. I set the crossfader to a rotary knob, channel faders with the vertical faders and EQ settings with the rest of the rotary knobs. No prob!
