Hmm, i mean listening to stuff like trg, 2562, mala, digital mystikz, skull disco, ramadanman, stuff like that and the more dub influenced dubstep stuff there stuff is boring, and not worth a listen in my point of view.

yer i see you on that im not saying chase & status are my favourite dubstep artists - far from it, im just wondering what everyone thinks is good/bad about them, i defy anyone to hate on their mixdowns n shit, their tunes always good quality lol

haha thank you...I just totally feel like the attitude of having to make the biggest, loudest, most obnoxious tune instead of pushing the music further and staying true to its roots (yes, this can be done simultaneously) in order to stand out is what caused dnb to stagnate for so many years...and I see it happening with dubstep and really don't want it to happen. The only thing keeping it together is that those on the top of the dubstep food chain are still staying open-minded and experimental for the most part.

I'm just not a fan of inbred music, and I feel like that's what Chase & Status make...dubstep that sounds like dubstep they've heard, dnb that sounds like dnb they've heard, but I don't hear those outside influences and experimentation that make these genres of music so interesting...

But again, just as with any other producer, I wish them the best and hope they continue to enjoy their success...any of us would love to be where they are right now!

I don't have anything against them personally, but I feel like their music misses the point of dubstep entirely (or at least what it means to me), but removing all of the swing, atmosphere, and well, dubbiness out of the music and making it this stiff, maximalist wall of sound.

for dubstep I think they're pretty shit, just totally flat songs with no emotion or anything to interest me.

For D&B they've written some welll good tunes, In Love, Duppy Man, Dumplin Riddim, Hurt You, even Smash tv before it got rinsed to fuck.

And then as DJs theyre wank. Saw them 3 times in the space of about a month and they may as well have just put their cd on and sat back and had a cuppa tea, wouldn't have noticed the difference.

Simple explanation:

Bedroom producer gets fame in the underground. He s picked up by a label. The producer becomes famous and well known. His tunes are now around the world and alot of people are listning to them. Then the underground producers start complaining cos he went "commercial" and "their" precious underground music is becoming not so underground anymore. So they start hating on the artist and calling him a sell out. Actually he's really making nice heavy tunes but nobody in the underground wants to hear that because he's " commercial".

In all actuallity most of them are just jealous because he's making a living out of something they can't reach.

IMO

Prod makes tunes, gets picked up becomes big
Starts doing loads of dj gigs to make some money
Realises the wobblers/lowest common denominator tunes work better 'in the dance' B2B less time in studio to make tunes
Starts making more generic tunes for reasons above
People moan because his older stuff was deeper/more experimental/less generic
Fame goes to head so ignores/dismisses everyone as 'haters'
