Theres some quite nice parts it just depends where you are. If your working in IBM you might better moving to Largs which is where I live, its 20 minutes on the bus which drops you off right outside IBM, its a quiet little seaside town but we're all pretty friendly and its a much nicer place to live than Greenock.
I suppose it will depend where your coming from just now, if you livn in the centre of London and your moving to Greenock your gona be suicidally bored. If you already live in a relatively small town then it might be interesting for you.
Benefits - Cheap rent, Easy birds, theres a college in Greenock which is really good for music and creative arts courses.
I currently live in Amsterdam, born 'n raised.
Sure there is bad places in every town but,

And Largs looks good yeah, and I thought there was also something else... Praisley iirc?

If you were thinking of moving to Paisley, I would suggest just moving to Glasgow, it's pretty hard to determine where Paisley ends and Glasgow Starts and I think there's a train station specifically for IBM so the train from Glasgow should only take a maximum of 30-40 mins
I lived in Maastricht for a few year then moved to Edinburgh so that wasn't a shock as they felt really similar, Amsterdam to Glasgow shouldn't be too much of a culture shock (recommend getting a flat in the west end though!)

Pffft nah mate Paisleys worse than Greenock, it is an actual dive of a place, I'd take Greenock over Paisley any day.
For something different I would definitely suggest Largs if your coming from Amsterdam, theres quite a few smokers here so we can normally score some half decent erb from somewhere and because its a small town you meet people pretty quickly - from speaking to me on here you already know one person lol. Me n a few of my mates write tunes so you've got people who are into their music and theres a good amount of pubs. Dont get me wrong I hate living here and will be moving up to Glasgow soon but thats because I've lived here for since I was younger and have grown bored. Loads of people who move here especially from abroad love it because its a quiet little seaside town with everything you need in close reach and if you want to go for a night out glasgows just a train ride away.

Oh wow Largs looks so relaxed! I actually think our first choice will be Largs, do you know if there is any houses for rent there? We need a simple 2 bedroom appartment, less neighbours = better, more bass for us

Everywheres got shitholes - Greenocks certainly not the worst compared to some other places in scotland let alone the u.k in general, dont get me wrong its not the nicest of places but you could definitely do worse.

Makes me laugh when people say "Oh, I live in a fucking scummy place", as you said, everywheres got nice places and shit places.
That's why whenever anyone calls Essex a dive, I'll fucking do em'. Sure, it's got chav stnuc and chav slut stnuc, but look past that and you have lots of scenery, loads of green fields, and nice little pubs with nice beer.

Aye, I was thinking along those lines, it's just that... last night I was readon sum about Greenock, and people are calling it a "Filthy Dirty Mean - Look at someone and get stabbed - place", so yeah, I'm kinda shocked atm xD
I'm happy that it's not THAT bad.

North / East Essex is amazing, we went for a bike ride up there and it's absolutely lovely.
