Dubstep is electronic music at 140bpm with a shit load of sub bass, the rest is a free for all.

yea! also, the idea of moving fwd with the sound and never letting it become formulaic were, at least in the beginning, a foundation. the idea that dubstep is always a certain way is contrary to the idea of the music itself, imho. i think the more variety of sounds the better, i think the fact that there's dubstep out there that not everyone enjoys is proof of its diversity

@dj pavilion, for more non halftime dubstep check horsepower productions, el-b, blackdown, headhunter, peverelist, sully, untold, ramadanman, burial, jus wan, zomby, synkro, trg, geiom, shackleton, appleblim, and anything from the first few years of this sound (dubstep allstars vol 1, roots of dubstep, roots of el-b and the 2nd Grime compilation are the most accessible) thats just to name a few of the big ones
sub.wise:.

intresting topic, i always get asked what it is and i never know how to descrbe it
i just say "slow drum and bass with weird basslines but you have to listen to it"
but i also read the skream intervew and he described it as "urban folk music"
i will have think about this one...
