Mate don't make yourself look like such an ignorant mug. I've blatantly said about 4 times here that I haven't been monitoring loudly and that it was switching between my low monitoring mixes and complete loud mastered mixes that has probably been the cause.
Admittedly, sometimes I do forget to turn down my faders before playing stuff on my soft synths, but quite often, some soft synths presets are programmed a hell of a lot louder than others. If you're in a rush to lat down a nice melody you've thought of, it's not hard to forget something even as simple as turning down a fader.

I've come to the conclusion I'll probably invest into a knob a can put closer to my mouse, to simply remind me to turn my monitors down before playing stupidly loud tracks.

Cheers dude, somebody else reccomended this as well, but this really shows how it's used which is sweet :D

Quite expensive though isn't it? How much does it cost?

EDIT: My Interface is TRS 1/4" jack Output only... I don't think the level pilot will work with it will it?

EDIT: Thinking about it, do any interfaces have XRL output? :\ How does this Level Pilot connect up homies?

yeah it cost me about $60.00 on ebay

I also had to buy cables that went from xlr to 1/4 inch bal because my interface is also 1/4 inch balanced

it's cheaper than a big knob, that's for sure

Thanks dude. You say you bought cables that went from xlr to 1/4" balanced, is that male or female XLR do you know?

haha

great question because I bought the wrong kind the first time actually

check your setup first...

I have an amp powering my monitors (yeah, they are that old) so my needs are a little different

but you wanna go sound card ---> volume control ---> monitors

So really I'm going to need

Monitor output - XLR to XLR x2
Level Pilot -
Level Pilot to Interface - XLR to 1/4" x 2

Sounds expensive man... May as well just get 1 set of longer cables so I can move my interface closer to my hand lol

yeah I don't have a physical volume control in my setup other than my level pilot

anyway...

you should use it as the last stage before your monitors
