Is there going to be a seperate download available? I'd like to hear them on my studio pc with monitors and all, but no internet there for good reason lol. This computer's speakers suck for music. I can download the streams, but they save as flash..

Yeah, it was the weirdest thing: I wrote the whole thing and distinctly recall hitting send (because I had to use the "find userID" function in the PM dialog box)... but when I went back to check my sent items and drafts, it wasn't there. This was definitely not your fault; it was either a technical glitch or I just plain fucked up. Seeing as I'm a software engineer option #1 sounds more believable to me but I'm not so vain as to think #2 was impossible either. :wink:

Either way, enough of this side-topic. Everyone get back to voting. Try and pretend you don't know who submitted the new track, if you can.

13 sounds well pro, like an old whistla track or something. Also, i like 5 with the funky drums.
But 1's bassline does it for me 8)

1) Sucks for everyone that came after this bombastic opener! Nice changes/progression, great mixdown, not the most unique sounds or arrangement as far as dubstep goes but it *sounds* so good I don't really care. Kinda want to hear what kind of gear or software was used to make this track. Best use of the Alex Jones (or whoever that is) vocal sample.

2) Cool, a bit like #1 w/ the bass but more subdued. Also a pretty good mix, although not quite as well balanced overall as #1 IMHO. Almost feels like it could be merged into #1 as a breakdown or something.

3) Liking the oldskool jungly vibe through this one.

4) Excellent use of that little horn stab (heh... you said "little horn stab" :) ) - but maybe should've stuck with the major-key tangent started by the horns instead of trying to get all creepy. Still good tune tho.

5) Not a fan of 4/4 usually, but the bassline and the breaks were dope. Like the happy vibe this one's laying down and the little garage part that leads it out.

6) Takes a little while to build with its standard DJ-friendly lead-in + additive/subtractive song structure. This one sounds like it was going somewhere interesting, like a whole 'nother part was about to happen, even though it went over the usual 3 minute time limit; would've loved to hear the producer go buck-wild at some point. Like the headspace given to the basses in the middle.

7) Pretty original compared to some other tracks here, but sounds like some compression or hard limiting issues in the mix between the bass and everything else. Is that just me? Regardless, there's a cool combination of energy and restraint going on in this arrangement that I dig. Hyped but not retarded.

8 ) Nice atmosphere, totally drew me in and made me want to see what was coming next. The drift off into happy bleepy land was unexpected, but like #6 it feels like it could've cut that stuff shorter and gone somewhere deeper, esp. at 4 minutes long. Still an excellent effort.

9) Cool. Can't help but wonder if by being in position #9 here, if some of the thunder was stolen by earlier tracks (like 1 & 2) with squelchy bass though.

10) DUTTY! Big, rusty iron machine breaks - although you know this m'fugga would chase most women off the dancefloor in droves. Since I tend to like hardass experimental stuff anyway this speaks to me bigtime, though I don't know that I would've used distortion on the *whole* goddamned mix, you sick freak. ;)

11) Gets going pretty quickly off the starting line, perfect for a competition like this, and doesn't let up. Also one of the more original takes in this competition, although in a different way than the other more individual takes on this pack.

12) Damn... this song almost makes me wish I hadn't entered! Original, great parts, progression, and arrangement - somebody knows what they're doing in that department. This one made me skank in my office chair. Maybe would've liked a little more melodic progression, but I say that about 90% of dubstep I hear anyway. Whoever mixed down #1 should do the same to this tune and then it should be pressed up ASAP!

13) Funky breakage and big barging bass - you can't go wrong. Yet another unique take on this pack that's really impressive. Cool sounds, maybe could've used a little more variation/progression than just a breakdown but still sounds good. Also good use of the 'banks' sample.

14) Homie needs to learn how to mix down properly... Sounded like a BB in a boxcar compared to most of the other mixes here. Kind of a boring progression here as well, honestly. Could've used more midrange cackery. Eh.

thanks for reviewing all the songs i like when people do that... dont really feel like doing it for this one but next dsf comp ill review them or at least a selection of them... more people need to do the reviews i think one of the main reasons i do these things is to see what people say about my song, and because deadlines make me actually finish tunes. lets start the next one!!!

My favourites were number 1, 5, 6 and 9. IMO they were the the most well mixed out of the 14. 1 simply had a good sound to it, proper filthy noise but not overpowering and went well with the rhythm of the beat. Liked the 4x4 style of number 5. Sounds like something from an old PS1 game or something. Nice and bouncy. Number 9 had a good little build up, sounded like Gone 2 Far when it dropped cause of that rusko-esque wobble bass. 6 was good, nice vibes, good atmosphere, kind of epic in a way. Definately could have been a little more exciting after the drop though, but was well mixed. Bass couldve been settled in a little better aswell as it is slightly overpowering in one way or another but it sounded good in general.

Nah, doesn't make up for it. I still feel like a sap for all the hoohaa I put Haack n' Sinus through. :u: But I'm glad to contribute something positive to try and balance it out.

Cheers! Yeah, feedback is always good, even if it's subjective. Gonna try to start doing this from here on out whenever possible. Would like to see more of y'all contribute thoughts too.
