I'm working on a new magazine called Modus - we're close to getting the content for our first issue done, and getting towards the design stages now.

http://www.modusmag.co.uk

Got lots of incredible content lined up too - not just reviews and stuff - proper opinion pieces, articles on stuff etc.

i have an possible idea, in my experience listeners of dubstep are a close knit community, more so than any other scene, and i think a subscription or membership service would be cool, you could give freebies to members everyso often like cds and clothing, also with the members could have an alert service where you advise of any upcoming events, and maybe in the longer term arrange member only events? i know id subscribe.

offering this subscription would have the added benefit of a monthly revenue?

also naked ladies in magazines never hurt. not over the top but maybe have a dubstep babes sections, all the female readers could submit pictures and have a vote for the hottest reader??

carry on skankin'

ive started on producing a mag the title called "seen" im starting out just in my local city to get it going, it will include female dubsteppers, sexy girls,

(big up to all the girls out there, this is kinda the reason im doing this mag because im very passionate about dubstep and music and im sure theres a hell more girls like me who feels the same! )

interviews,reviews,events,adds,sales/wanted,production tips like 'tip of the month' thing, opinions, under 18 djs up and coming, and local artist, and a funny page'bassface' section.

its just somthing i will enjoy doing

:)

The subscription thing is a brilliant idea, i would definately do that.
Not so keen on the dubstep ladies idea though, i think it would bring down the general tone of the magazine, if i wanted to see that i'd buy FHM or Nuts or whatever, it'd be cool just to have a magazine that's all about the music, and doesn't try to sell stuff with sex. Maybe that's just me though idunno.

I think that in this economy, in this day in age, online only is the way to go. Advertise maybe the old fashioned way with a few copies or whatnot, but in the end you will be online or you won't exist is the way it's shaping up for media. At least that's my estimation based on major news networks and how they are posturing. Like them or not, they are good at getting their ideas and their point across.

What will your magazine have that others do not? What will it improve upon?

I imagine if you're asking us if there are Dubstep oriented mags and whatnot you're in the initial phase of discovering Dubstep overall? Seems like every other day someone is trying to start a mag or blog or label. Take it from me as a new label owner... the market is saturated in terms of information, opinions and ways to obtain them. You need to be able to deliver better content, faster, cheaper. I'm pretty happy with my subscriptions I currently have, so you'd be stealing business from someone else(not a bad thing, I like competition)

Just saying, even if your magazine is AS GOOD as what I currently subscribe to, is it cheaper? Is it good enough to not renew my other subscriptions? If I have to make a choice, why would I choose you over them? These are things I'd be interested in knowing. I know you're in the beginning phase and all that, but those are my questions for you and what I'd be asking myself if doing the same thing. Perhaps your content delivery may also include a social networking aspect, but again that has been done, so it'd need to be an improvement on what is already there. Most importantly, good luck. Long road ahead. And yes... naked ladies are great to look at, but I have a problem with naked ladies being FOR SALE in the worst kinda way, and I'd pass in lieu of the numerous other pornographic outlets which will be leaps and bounds better than you could even attempt in terms of Dubstep porn get me?

That said...

a tech section for the producers would be a must - including software/hardware reviews and first of all insights into other producers studios and their production techniques. more insights into the work of dubstep lables would be dope, too!

Rubbish!

it's about music, it's about music, it's about music! don't really needs to lower it's quality to a cheap gangsta-hiphop-style -naked-girls-on-cars-level.
