If the producer used the parts of the song and interpreted it in his own artistic fashion but the song doesn't just sound like the same track on a different tempo, does that really mean it isn't a 'remix'?

Its not the fact the vocals are not included, the bassline, drums and the whole vibe of the original tune are just not like this remix, its as they mixed it up with another remix.
