I just love the 'rawness' if you like of using Vinyl. It's right there in front of you, no nonsense. And yeah i'm more of a 'back in the day' DJ despite only having mixed for 2 years or so.

vinyl is where it's at- money is tight for me right now though, so I'm only buying wax if the tune isn't being released digitally (Deep Medi, Disfigured Dubz), or if there is a white label promo that comes out a month in advance of the digi release or something.

I don't like MP3's anymore than anyone else, but I dropped 30 bucks on Beatport and got 23 tunes. I could have gotten like 6 on wax for that much. When you barely have money for groceries the choice is clear...

i don't dj, but I see a lot of shows and I like seeing the dj work with just 2 turntables rather than look like some geek staring at his laptop. and can you do a legitimate rewind on a macbook?

I think its because it makes the DJ seem more authentic, it shows that they have more passion for their music as they have definately not downloaded a free rip of a tune, not that all cd dj's do that but its fair to say that the mhjority do, also a lot of the time u can only get brand new tracks on vynyl (until one of them people upload it to a website), its a wicked feelin you get when u go down ur local record shop, have some jokes and walk out knowing u got a few white labels that only a couple of hundred people have, especially when that promo gets released official and it goes massive or even mainstream, sometimes years later, with vynyl there are no short cuts, the DJ has to cue up the tunes, there are no beat counters, and it shows even more skill when something goes a bit wrong and the DJ has to quickly fix it. i suppose another reason is that u own a hardcopy of a tune, like someone says before its like a nostalgia thing, u can look back through ur old collection and know that them pieces of vynyl mean something, anyone can download an mp3, the trick is getting the bangin tunes on vynyl, especially promo. I use to be pure vynyl junkie in the 90's but now with the pioneers and stuff there are new tricks that people can do wiv digital mixin so i dont really mind wither, as long as the DJ doesnt rip of the producer if its available to buy!, a thing that dos put mp3/cd mixin in favour is if u make tunes urself or a mate does, then u can promote that shit without havin to fork out loads of cash for a dubplate, if the crowd like the tune then u can think about gettin it out there on vynyl, thats my view anyway!

peace.
I'm sorry officer, but I'm suffering from "miscalculated miles an hour" disease so I am unable to comply with your regulations.

use whatever you're happiest using

most of the world's biggest djs are now on cd or serato

playing out you get points for selection, not for having the deepest cut dubplates

enjoy
