So you make you tunes and of course you like them, (cuase youve looped them thousands of times) but how do you know when you have reached that other level? Your friends and your girl might say they like your tunes. But how do you know they are not telling you lies? How can you tell that your product is ready to hit the market and you are ready to be released?
your friends and girl won't tell you lies... by definition, that's not what they do. they like you for YOU. if you invest your whole self into your music, the music will represent you... so the same people who simply like being around you will also enjoy your music because it will have the same quality. however.. just because they say they love the music doesn't mean it's going to be a hit, in the same way that just because your mom says she loves you doesn't mean you're going to be famous.
the way i know my tunes aren't shit is when i meet somebody new, somebody i like, I start to get friendly with them. they ask what i do. i say "I make dubstep." if they're cool at all, they'll already know what that is. i say, "you wanna hear some of it?" whip out the mp3 player, shove the headphones on them... if they start nodding to it and swaying, maybe start to move in ways that they don't really intend.. then i know the music's doing it's trick. if you can grab someone who doesn't know you and have them feel your music, I know it's good.. cuz that's what good music does to me.
