it is true that the law uses repetetive beat to categorise and number of people to determine if it is illegal or not. basically it boils down to the fact that illegal raves cannot be taxed unlike legal club nights - which is why the UK government clamped down on it.

yeah you need a licence. you'll also, therefore, need to comply with fire regulations, blah blah blah.

technically i believe the Criminal Justice Bill states that anything over 10 people constitutes a rave (was 100 originally, since lowered IIRC) and yeah, basically the 'repetitive beats' clause means that you can classify anything at all as a 'rave'.

there were riots when the law was passed, and it's generally considered to be one of the low points of the 1990s tory govt. the tories are like the british republicans

See, in Pitt/Ohio/West Virginia, were all about the 3 day outdoor festival... You kick a farmer a cut of the gate for using his cornfeild, he plows out bout an acre or two of corn away, bring in the sound/lighting/equip rigs, throw em up under some shitty little picnic tents, invite everyone from the3 surrounding states to bring hier tents n sleep in the cornfeild next to the music for 3 days.

Cleanups a bitch though.

Most police departments themselves do not want to roll in on the renegade parties out in the forest or countryside. From the police's point of view, for the most part the parties are harmless, because everyone involved is off in the forest or countryside and not causing a headache for them in the downtown areas.

What I have heard, is that you need to watch out for club owners and the like, club management. If a club owner hears about a renegade party like this happening, and maybe he has been having a bad week, he might be inclined to call it in. These clubs owners pay taxes and stuff, so once they start to enter the picture they have a bit of weight to throw around and they might be able to convince the police to make it their problem.

The less you promote for the party, the less likely it is that this will happen. If the parties are on the smaller side, I doubt even club owners will have too big of a problem.

That said, I have very little experience running these things, this is just what I have heard.

Ths... Ive heard tale around here that the reason some more underground events go down is because esatablished promoters, club owners, Djs scorned on bookings, ect. Get a sht n call in... Its fucked up, but its the subtle politics of underground music I guess, then again, like I said, tale not truth, so IDK how much of it you can hold to heart.

Was still wondering about what size/quality speakers I would need.
In watts (I know there are like 200W speakers and 500W speakers).
What should their range be, active or passive, etc...
I got the generator and an assload of gas, the only thing missing is the speakers

I'm not worried about the lazy ass excuse for a police force here coming out to the middle of the fucking forest to shut a down a rave.
Worst case everyone will beat the living fuck out of them.
I am keeping it on the DL and the only advertising it's going to get is word of mouth and a few posters given out to close friends so people can verify it's really happening.
The thing is called "Bassforest" - coincidentally I was just thinking to myself that day that I never get creative with names

You need a little extra power if you are outside - 3-5k should be enough to service a couple hundred ravers ... if your are semi enclosed you can go smaller
Prolly best to use non active with an amp which has plenty of power to spare - Keep a really close eye on that amp tho or some loon will twist it to eleven

Of course 100k mega turbo sound bastard rig would be nice
