EncSpot can show you the actual bitrate(s) used in MP3 files. EncSpot is no longer maintained as far as I can tell and the original homepage is gone, but you can download it here

Isn't the whole point that in this situation the bitrate doesn't tell us anything about the quality of the sound? It's like if you make a track useing only 96kb/s samples, and save it as a .wav. The file is a .wav but the sound on it is thin.

Maybe you could find out what exactly changes about a file when you reduce the bitrate... some people have said that the spectrum is reduced a bit, but is there anything else more concrete?

I guess you mean Kbps, not KHz. Imagine that!

But yeah, I know the problem... took a look at EncSpot, but it still shows 64s disguised as 320s, as 320s. :S
You were right about the frequencies, though. Converting a 320 to a 64 made this:

Weird stuff.
I had a small detour.

^ I'm not used to looking at an analyser like one, but to my eye they are very hard to tell apart.

Just use your ears and your instinct. If you feel like the song is a lower quality try and find a better quality one. If that's not possible, you probably have the best quality available. If you think it sounds fine, you shouldn't really worry about playing it out, it obviously won't sound as good as a .wav or .flac, but the average listener wont notice, and the discerning listener won't hate unless the quality is shitty, in which case you should have caught it first on your monitors.

My monitor equipments not exactly par, and id hate too risk trying to play somethng and it causing trouble...

So... how do I know? I thoguht i left this in the dust with torrenting, but now, Ive got a whole harddrive of the shit...
Delete them and find a better source. Or, just use whatever sounds good!
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Lol... I think you missed the point of the thread, troll. N your one too talk, how many tunes you sendin over aim that arent yours bud? Thats worse then inheritin a hard drive off one of the listeners.

But seriously, trolls right, this is a grassroots genre, pay your dues you pirate wastes.
