so no treatment, no real gear and square waveforms as results?
i'm also guessing you don't own legit versions of all those plugins either

Dude, arent rooms mostly all square?
morphesis wrote:the monitors / sound system are set up in the correct manor
So are mine. And my rooms square. And I have vintage warmer. Id pay a master because, amongst other things, know they have an solid, acoustically treated environment too work in...

But yeah, I mean, I guess if youve got the training to back it up, makes sense, softwares futuristic and so are square rooms...

Whered you learn the trade of the Mastering Engineer/have you studyed in any formal environments?

I'm not sure what the big deal is here. If you are interested send in a sample and see if you like it, if you don't then don't go with them. I sent mine in, thought it sounded great and now I'm getting the full tune done, in fact I'll probably pay him to get to do a few more for me. I thought the whole point was to have someone else do the mastering for you, you know a new set of ears so to speak.

Why give someone a hard time who just wants to get more experience and be payed (a little) for his services? If you don't want to go with him then go pay the big money for one of the big mastering houses, but I'd rather support the up and comers.

TLDR; I sent my tune in, thought it sounded great, now I'm getting the full tune done.

If anyone is interested I have the track I got mastered by Tekmastering in my Signature (Blindside - Silence Remix).

I think Matt did a great job and feel it was money well spent.

Thanks Matt!

i'm not bashing on matt's production or mixing skills he's great at both. it's his mastering service i have qualms with. you can master with plugins granted, but thats only part of it. not trying to be a dick but at same price point there is people with dedicated lifelong job mastering setups.
nothing wrong with learning though.

sort of my thought process without saying it so i will. i have ozone etc etc and i can do a basic digital master myself. might not sound amazing but it get the job done to play the tune. if im paying its gotta be on analog gear and its gotta be a pro. not knocking the hustle though, there are plenty of people who will benefit from your services.

No offense dude, but after spending my first 5 years mixing tracks of various genres on Tannoy Reveals -- the 8" ones at that -- I would definitely not pay to have a dubstep track mastered on £100 speakers that can't reproduce frequencies below about 60Hz. And, er, "square" is just about the worst shape a control room can be, apart from maybe spherical, so I'm not sure how that's a selling point...

(Don't get me wrong, I thought the Reveals were fairly faithful and great for the price if you didn't need much sub-bass, but mastering with them? Really?)

I forgot to mention I have a Tannoy SUB aswell as.....apologies!

and the monitors are great!....not sure if you know , but most of Pendulum's first releases i.e. Vault / Another Planet / Trail Of Sevens etc etc were made using the same monitors......
