How do you think dubstep.com will affect DSF and promotion?

My sort of point was that the 'noobs' that everybody is hating on are actually potential customers.... If they're all coming here, naturally DSF is a killer selling spot, if it's split between two places it gets slightly harder to target your audience... Although it would be pretty awesome if 'filth' and 'Dubstep' were split!

But as the Ryan dude said that there isn't likely to be a forum, I suppose it makes this topic irrelevant!

Essentially brostep is for posers that have vaguely heard of dubstep, the deeper side is the real face of it all. People who like the deep stuff have more going on between their ears.

Aggrostep (Aggrotech, industrial music that used alot of bitcrushing and heavy bass, step to refer to the synco nature/tempo fo the drums)

Dubstep (Dub, to refer to the relaxed and almost dub like nature of the music as well as a general mindset conveyed. Step to refer to the general syncopated nature/tempo of the music.)

But I think a split, right there, as that, would promote alot of development, end alot of squaller, ect. on both sides.

Wise words man. The debate about what is and isnt "dubstep" is getting a bit old now. People should just make the music they want to make and leave it at that....

In the beginning it was "One sound, one scene" because everyone was worried about sub genres splitting the scene down the middle and causing it to fall apart from the inside, a la DnB. But if we just didnt acknowledge the sub genres existence in the first place then how could there be a problem?

Just make tunes. Dont worry about where they "fit", just do it.

Guys shouldnt have to. You should be saying dubstep, becuase it is, its dubby chill step... And honestly, I shouldnt have to wonder when asking someone to feedback 'Yo what style you like, like, deep or aggro? ... Or if someone comes in and I ask 'Mind if I listen to dubstep?' and they go, no, no go right ahead, and then I put on soemthing that conflicts with what they vibe to.

Its a big difference, and its leaving both sides cofused, bickering, and like someone said above, is keeping alot of weighty focus on the genre from outside.

I.M.O. if you split, the development would be unf*cking believable on both sides, because one wouldnt be weeding through such vague terms for music... Think about it, remember when garage/dubstep/grime got lumped into a sales spot online? That was HAAARD.... with division, you could see the light through the trees. Labels would be able to fous on one side of the other without the conflict of having to tell very talented, though different styled artists no, and everyone would see more concise categorizing, thus a general decrease in clutter with an increase of ease of visibility... next thing you know... the unheard of talent that could be coming up on both sdes can be seen for what it is.

the impact on it would be pretty awesome really. New sounds would start emerging, labels and libraries would get concise and therefore less jumbled and therefore focus on generally more diverse and quality material...

Hell top it all off, it'd end alot of bickering. It wont fractionalize a scene, but give us all breathing room. Youll still have nights which play both, but it wont be shocker when one night specializes in sub and another in aggro... ect.

I have the solution to all of this. Instead of shopping for new genre and subgenre names how about we just call is bass music and call it a day. Maybe it would even encourage people to color outside the lines more. This argument is getting very boring.
