Re: New Dubstep Production Course!

I'm sure this course will interest some people. But I really don't get it. Most amateur producers are poor as fuck. I survive on about 30 quid a week (unemployed - hate it). And the small amount of money I manage to save at the end of the month (usually by eating leeks for a week straight) goes on music software and products of real value. So why would I spend any of the tiny amount of money I have (which could go on software and not starving) to learn something I can learn on you tube on for free and on these forums with the help of a community I like...

Don't really get it. I'd say that I like what you're trying to do but to be honest it just seems like profiting off something that should be free and fleecing newbies who have only just got into electronic music (I've seen courses like this before, you only attract two types, newbies who don't know better to do a search for the information you offer and floundering 40 year olds who work in the civil service and have always had dreams of being a producer) who will pay money to sound like their favorite artists without realizing there are thriving communities who are willing to give them what you offer for free. With the added bonuses of great contacts and a great sense of community.

Sorry if this post seems overly negative.

I'm not trying to flame or anything.
Just my personal view that I think what your doing is, very simply put, fleecing n00bs.

EDIT:

"Course details

Weeks: 4

Price: £325.00"

...Completely over-priced too. Your students could have spent that money to take up a national diploma or an A level in music which would have 1., acted as a stepping stone into university 2., been good on a C.V. 3., offered a real qualification at the end with a real use 4., taught them much, much more.

Hmm, how to make dubstep? I really can't think of what there is out there that can be an alternative to this that covers more than Live. Oh, right...

Again let me reiterate a point:

What we are offering cannot be gained for free simply by searching the internet...it is true that you can find similar tutorials on the net to those included on the DUbstep Course. BUT what you cannot get for free and that we offer is the opportunity to upload you tracks/projects/work to your professional producer tutor, who has a wealth of industry experience, and will create a unique personal 1-2-1 feedback video of them going through your work. So you will gain both technical and creative advice from an expert, this is the reason we charge the price we do because the tutor creates individual feedback videos for every class member and this is a lengthy process, but we believe it makes a world of difference.

It is true that forums, such as DSF, do offer free knowledge from some excellent producers, but for lots and lots of aspiring producers a more beneficial way to learn and excel their production skills is to particiapte in the more structured enviroment of a course. Often enrolling on a course can also provide a certain degree of confidence in the fact that any specific techniques, skills, problems you have, questions etc can always be accessed/answered instantly and easily, whereas simply with the aid of a google search this can take alot more time and effort.

I'm sorry that so many of you feel hostility to the courses we offer, but we genuinely believe that our courses benefit students immensely and this is reflected in the feedback we get: http://www.pointblankonline.net/about-p ... onials.php

So I hope that clears up the difference between what we do and what you can get for free on the net.

And if you are interested in the course you can check out the full course details here:

Cheers for reading, and keep the comments or questions coming and I'll answer right away.

Pease take a second and have a watch, then let me know what you think. We'd like to get as much feedback as possible.
