its a very personal thing i think. I have acetates, but feel they are delicate and dont enjoy playing them. the vinyl dubs i love, quiet robust and solid.

either way, it is always a pleasure to get tunes cut at dubstudio, very professional, personally couldnt recommend them enough.

Transition: No comment, the one
Dubstudio: I tested only vinyl dubs and they are sick, go for them if you play your dubs a lot, quality and duration, both 10" and 12"
Turnstyle Rec (California): You know 30$ is not 30£, very good acetates as well, chose the 12"

Time ago Mala told me he plays his dubs 3 time a week and they still sound good after time. If you use acetates just take care, don't scratch, don't make violet pull up.

About cartridge I advise Shure M44-7 with 2g

Can I just say:

I cut a tune over two years ago with Dub Studio, on vinyl dubplate, and have battered the shit out of it at nearly every gig I've played and at home when I'm practicing.
The tune got released on vinyl a month or so ago, and I did an A/B comparison with the fresh vinyl pressing, and my haggard old vinyl dub cut.
Both sounded virtually the same except the dub had more background noise and crackle in the quiet parts.

In terms of loudness, they were identical. In terms of fidelity there really was only a very marginal difference between the two. There was possibly a small loss of high-end on the dub, which is just as likely to be from 2 years+ worth of my greasy fingers cueing it up as it is to be the quality of the dubplate itself.

In short: Dub Studio's mastering and cutting of a 2-year-old vinyl dub stands strong against a fresh vinyl pressing of the same tune.

edit: p.s the bassiest tune in my crate is a Dub Studio dubplate, it makes things fall over, they obviously know what they're doing!

try n avoid vinylcarvers, got 1 cut not so long ago and its crackly to shit and sounds pretty wank
