i think for how awesome and atmospheric his older song were (mezmerizing the ultra and the like) its a HUGE bummer that his sets are so straightforward and hard. theres a lot less soul in his sets. what made bassnectar stand out and special to me was how to brought TRULY unique vibes with his songs, not songs that needed a repeating loud midrange-focused synth over it, but sounds that would continuously add to the atmosphere he was creating. his sets are like any other generic dubstep dj's nowadays, which is really unfortunate. i wanna jam out to vibin tunes, which in so many ways go much harder with a big system than the expected 'bangers' he and others plays.

he could be doing a LOT sicker and unique shit right now than what he actually is doing. not saying that his newer stuff isnt neat, but i think he is too overconfident thinking he can make anthem dubstep tunes and ends up just contributing to the normal immodestly hard tunes out there.

His set last Fri at Bass Camp at the burn was awesome. Black Rock City was split between Bassnectar's set at Bass Camp and the Crystal Method playing at the other side of the playa. These were both massive and epic parties. Bass Camp's rig had some of the best sound on the playa this year and Bassnectar's set took full advantage of it. The camp had awesome sound ripping across the desert and had at least 3 nights of dubstep.
