I'd have used better examples, but I'm not sure they have White Castle in Europe.

None in the UK. We're only just getting Taco Bell. And guess what, we don't have Dairy Queen eitherpkay wrote:rayman612 wrote:Sandwich shops, KFC, McDonalds... Too many food references in this thread

Not everyone makes music, not everyone is a producer. The argument that you shouldn't criticise others if you don't make your own music is completely hollow. Dubstep is a genre, good tunes are produced, bad tunes are produced. People are and should be free to comment and criticise wherever they see fit. Just because poorly produced, midrange tear-out happens to be easier to criticise than most other stuff doesn't mean you have to jump to the defence of it all time. Most people think it's shite, get used to it.
What goes on at DSF is the same as saying "I hate McDonalds because it is shit food. I wish McDonalds weren't around so KFC would be more popular, because KFC is a better type of fast food and deserves more attention than McDonalds"
See here you sound like a douchebag.... and because you enjoy KFC, you make KFC sound like food for douchebags.
what would likely be more effective would be
"You should try KFC, I find the double-stack amazing, and those little potato wedges are fucking awesome. They have macaroni too. What? McDonalds? I'm not that big of a fan of McDonalds. KFC is my shit"
And here you sound like you are excited about KFC and therefor KFC sounds exciting.
You guys underestimate how many people troll these forums searching to see what dubstep is all about. Pretentious douchebags talking shit about Doctor P, make Doctor P seem like the anti-pretentious douchebag. Catch my drift?
It is a good analogy, but its also an acceptance that we should talk about shit, I am aware that pkay is a fan of the circus bunch from what i remember of your posts i have no problem with this but can there not be somewhere else to talk about it. there are so many producers who put so much effort into their music (who i may not even be the biggest fan of but actually respect what their doing) but dont receive half the attention that they deserve, someone like cyrus who is talking about giving up djing cause he cant sustain himself but then lesser producers making a mint at the same time, if your talking about new people coming in we should be directing them towards something as a community we are proud of on the whole not something the majority of people who have been around for a while(who i again do not claim to be one of) can be proud to say to someone coming in yes this is dubstep and we recommend you listen to this there doesnt have to be universal love but a respect for what someone else is doing and i hate to see tracks such as sweetshop and gorgon sound or whatever being classed in the same genre as midnight request line, anti war dub, jahova, hedbutt the deck(trying to show the different styles around) But if we were to just not talk about doctor p and people on here then they wouldnt be able to read about it on here and allow it to be defined as something elsekizza2435 wrote:...that analogy is actually really really good...pkay wrote:trapeez wrote:That is such a load of bollocks.pkay wrote:

I hope you don't mean Horsepower Productions - Gorgon Sound because I could not find a non-horsepower productions dubstep tune by that name...

you make a good point except for the point about going in the studio to make tunes yourself, you dont have to, you can steer the ship by buying tunes you like. end of. and criticising music you dont like is fine, its just annoying for the people who like it! you dont like the music, dont listen to it, you dont like the criticism, dont read it. see where im going with this?
