what if you have the time and passion to learn to mix, but dont have the money for decks? i love mixing and avoid the sync button, and im not doing it to get paid or anything. plus i see having a larger bass of music which i own alot more easier to mix with, then going out and having to buy all of my songs again on vynil.

im wanting to invest in some decks in the future maybe but its way too much for me at the moment.

plus i think a mix isnt just about the beatmatching, its where the mix goes and how it developes. what you said may not have been a jab at cdjs but i feel alot of people dont regard cdjs as real mixing equiptment

anyone who doesnt regard cdj's as real mixing equipment is a fucking moron.

They've been out a decade and have become a vital part of DJing. The only people I see talk shit on CDJ's are people who are very new to DJing or those who don't dj at all.

thing is its not even the fact you gotta get the decks, you wont be able to mix any of your songs... and vynils arent cheap

LOL i know.

i wish there were as many people grooving to Ramadanman as there were to Cookie Monsta but hey what can you do.

I was very sceptical at first, but on reflection it enabled us to book Ramadanman when we probably would not have otherwise been able to.

Now im a bit more involved im hoping to do more like this in the future eg get Inspector Dubplate to pull the crowds and then get a headliner i really admire.

Yeah my mate helps promote a night in Southend and they have Joker and Inspector Dubplate playing the same night. From what im told I.D. is still pretty reasonable to book money wise, so you use him to get a crowd then have a really decent headliner......and maybe educate a few heads too!

Not sure why anyone needs to be educated. A lot of us choose to listen to the filthier stuff. Sounds like your friend has a night of balanced sounds in my opinion. Joker smashes it live, as does ID, should be a good show for anyone attending, and the two headliners won't be playing the same tunes/styles.

Seems perhaps silly to take any DJ too seriously, after all, they're just a vector for delivering other people's vibes. People don't cheer for the DJ's skill, they cheer because a recognisable track comes on

Hail the producers!

It's a shame though I wanna hear a DJ play stuff I have never heard before not the same shit I heard a thousand times before (obviously a few classics is great!)

People don't want to be taken out of their comfort zone and have to work out whether it's cool to like it or not on their own :(

Maybe they should have a screen behind the DJ with how many youtube plays the song has so people know if it's ok to dance

This is true, however some people may need to be educated to the fact that there is other styles of dubstep. I started out just listening to dirty filthy tunes, then went to a Croydub and came across people like ramadanman, kryptic minds etc and realised there is something more out there.

Not saying listening to filth is wrong and for the un-educated...as i pretty much play just filth myself. Just most of the Inspector Dubplate fans may not know about the other aspects as majority of them are just you-tube listeners.

Yeah I don't get the fuss over how people play out tunes sometimes. I've got a lot of respect for anyone doing it all vinyl- i certainly haven't got that talent- but if I make tunes and want to share the music I like with people why can't I use a program with a sync button on it?

I'm not sure which is worse, a filth dj using a synch button, or a roots dubstep dj who barely even mixes tracks and just slams them together and pulls back the outgoing track.
A filth DJ using a sync button is much, much worse.

and people are only buying into inspector dubplate (promoters) because of his facebook following.

Same as that guy who owns UKF Dubstep on YouTube who is apparently going to release an album through the same people as ours :\

Inspector is a chill dude, and provides a legit service to a lot of labels. He's not downloading tunes and slapping em on youtube. He has a relationship with all the labels he promotes. I for one appreciate the fact that when I'm ready to debut a Dubsaw tune to the world, I can hit Inspector up with a clip and within hours will have the feedback our label is looking for regarding a tune and also have a fair amount of consumers awaiting the release of our tunes.

When it comes to the dirtier side of dubstep, he's got access to some of the biggest tunes of the moment 24/7, which as a DJ can do wonders for how in demand you are.

and fyi he can legitly dj.
He ripped tunes off of peoples myspaces and put them in mixes.

How do I know? Because I own the rights to several of those tunes.

For every youtube educated retard theres just as many ignorant 19 year old know it alls who came up hearing Mala is a god and filth is shit, who have honestly never explored the music for themselves.

Theres a ton of yawn bullshit filth out there. I get sent dozens of shit tracks a day that get sent to the recycle bin in a hurry. But there's equal amounts of horse shit classic dustep. Scores of producers trying to ride the nuts of the heavy hitters and falling miserably short.

Point being good music on both sides of the isle. If you arent exposing yourselves to both sides (and music outside of dubstep) you're cheating yourself.

Bingo chicken wingo!

Also worth noting that not everyone feels the need to zip up in the lifestyle a simple genre of music can offer. If I got some dickhead beard stroking fart trying to lecture me about 'real gabba music' at a gabba night I'd just laugh, say 'yeah whatever man' and keep on grinding

Yeah it's honestly one of the major turn offs to our scene from outsiders.

I'm fairly into the deep house scene (i know shocker right?) and I've never been at a club and had someone pop off talking about 'real deep house'.
