Im told Talk is going to have a relaxed dress code for the night we are playing there. Even though Nero aint everyones cup of tea, DC Breaks are meant to be doing a 4 decks set which might be worth checking out. Give the night a go, and if its crap, fuck it you've only wasted one night. Least you can say you've tried to support a dubstep night in Southend!I know they are looking to get some BIG names down if its a success.

Good to be bringing Scruffy Hoodlum back to Essex at last. Wanna try put a lil night on in our home town of romford to at sum point when the times ready too.

Have seen a slow increase in the interest in dubstep across the county over the years, its a good look...

Big up to all the Essex dubsteppers, all the dj's, producers, promoters & host's pushing things forward, and everyone that attends the nights and supports the music thats released!!

Hi guys I'm from Southend. Have enjoyed Chase & Status, and Caspa @ Talk...

I don't think the club is as bad as people are saying. It's pretty dead these days which gives room to skank and the drinks are decent prices! I hate Element/Mayhem, can't see a dubstep night working there at all.

I only recently found out about Barhouse but Benga was a good night up there

Diz-Ko looks massive I'm glad to see some big names are coming to my town.

Unfortunately I never made it to Ramadance for Funtcase etc. does anyone know what happened to that event? Is there any information online about the Sunrooms gig? Even though I hate that place...

Crissy Criss was meant to be @ Saks recently but the club cancalled the event!

Just lack of support/attendance really. After it moved from the Railway people just wouldnt go because it was at Bar Bluu. The Subscape and Funtcase nights were alright im told, then literally nobody turned up to the last couple.

I'm from chelmsford, theres been a few good nights here mainly at barhouse, intense records puts on a few decent dubstep/drum and bass nights, but theres no regular events.. People dont generally want to come to a dubstep night unless theres a massive name. Oscilate wildly put on good nights, had james blake and roska a few weeks ago, but it was pretty dead. Definitely gonna get down to the royal hotel for that scruffy hoodlum vs subdub event looks heavy and only ever been to jump up drum and bass nights at royal hotel.

I think everyone will be in for a pleasant surprise if they come to Scruffy Hoodlum vs Sub Squad.

Ive been to some of the other dubstep events in essex and Sub Squad has definately smashed them out of the water everytime, in terms of Venue, System, Price and Line ups!!

Wicked to see the Essex scene moving tho and hopefully see ya at a dance near u soon!!

How can you hate Sunrooms? It's easily one of, if not the best venue in Southend for alternative music.

Ramadance was cancelled because no one went. I turned up to the penultimate one and I swear to god me and my pal were the only 2 people in there.

yeah unfortunately james blake and roska night was pretty dead in the end. it was after the football and the club as well as the whole of town cleared out after the draw with the us.

have just secured a really really big booking for later in the year too...a forum favourite infact. you are right no one wants to come to nights unless there are big names, which stops people from being able to run monthlies. chelmsford is really spoilt atm to be honest a few years ago there was nothing and people don't appreciate the hard work being put into the scene.

ye as scruffy hoodlum is a monthly event so we cant kill it with the line ups but we are looking to do a big party in december time for our bday bash.
but for now we will do our best to bring u at least one big name every month if not two. any djs ppl would like to see in southend let us know and we do our best to get them.

Sub squad was defo a big night, best night in Essex iv been to & played. I'm really lookin forward to playin the nxt one.
dark, big system and people goin off! Defo bringing back the early plastic people feel into Essex.

someone should make an essex topic in the events section and then everyone can post their events there so we people know whats going on better...

i haven't even heard of some of these nights that are only a few towns away and im sure the same applies for my night.

i gotta go now to get up early but if no one has done it in a day or two, unless people have a better idea i will start one.
