I've got a mate living out there - just forwarded him this thread link. he's well into dubstep so you'll have one happy customer at least.

Well, Indian people are open but they also do seem to predominantly enjoy music that sounds very Indian.. play bhangra influenced stuff like Blackdown and whatnot + whatever else lively stuff ya got.

anytime i'm gonna spin dubstep somewhere where i know noone's heard it before, i always aim for the less halfstep side of things. the irony is that "sholay" works great... the idea of playing sholay in mumbai is awesome.

hit me on the PM or the myspace

it's just a tiny frikkin' world... dubstep bringin folks together across 3 coasts and 2 continents. i love it.

Is india still deep into trance? Any time i've been out in delhi or mumbai, it's been either bollywood or trance. i'd imagine you couldn't go wrong w/ the big reese tunes....

and yeah, anthems, anthems, anthems!

yeah man.. microscopic world!

india is still stuck in hip-hop, bolly's, and horrible house.. but there is a growing scene for breakbeat and drum n bass.. more for breakbeat.. its still very underground.. and limited audience.. but the thing is..there really havent been great sets of breakbeat.. like all is watered down..when you water it down..it starts to sound more like house and less like breakbeat.. plus most of the better djs in breaks come only in dec..which is bad cuz they are not the topliners then.

lets see, this is one thing, but i kinda want to change the music scene out here, break open the idiotic, i wannabe hip by listening to dumb pop culture

if nothing else atleast spawn a 1000 other breakbeat/dubstep djs

Big ups mate.

I'm not sure why everyone's jumping in with tune suggestions which they think sounds vaguely 'indian'. FFS!

Just play the tunes you feel!

wow, big up mate!

yeah i wouldnt bother patronising the audience with obv indian interpretations, play what you feel, the advanced rhythmic nature and grasp of abstract tonality in indian music should mean the audience is more prepared for dubstep than the average uk breaks/techno/dnb audience anyway
