basically these custom ones are made by a company called elacin
you go along to a designated place, they take a cast of your ears. you specify which level of reduction you'd like.
then 1 week - 6 weeks later, depending on whether you've gone 'express' or not, you get your plugs back with a little case.
go to http://www.hearingprotection.co.uk/ then click 'find an outlet' to see where you can get yours done near you

I'm just gonna buy the brass ones for snoring from Boots, anythings better than nothing, I think you can still chat to people and hear, Codez, but don't quote me. The ones made out of beeswax and suttin else are the best, i think? Never get round to this b4 FWD tho
. It's funny to me that people sometimes complain on forum that certain sets/moments at FWD are too quiet at times but I have never heard it this way, only 2 loud, al la Plastician, please have loud bass but don't just turn the whole rig up that high, it stops it being enjoyable with the treble damage on ear fibres. Fucking consider peoples health, it doesn't sound better like that just louder and distorted on the tweeters, and overly drunk/rolling people might like it but it just seems agressive/tense/too crowded/immature/irresponsible too me, fucking DJ's got his 150£ moulded jobbies in so why make ever1 suffer just play it at the right volume you wankers!!! Sorry rant over, but one of my family friends pointed out to me how stupid it is that DJ's and crowds are both wearing earplugs and loosing the dangerous highs/mids, because they want to actually feel the bass in their bodies (fair play!!!) but just turn the bass up in the first place and not the rest, voila same effect minus ear plug price tag!!!!! and the unprotected lug'oles don't get fucked!!! Its probably not that simple but I swear people are being so stupidly thick about this subject, just another hang over from D&B where it stopped being music and was just an experience, which is all good but I don't see why people love their treble so much like the rigs at Herbal and The End, wasteman business. If ur a top boy DJ and ur reading this remember less is more I like the drama of a loud rig as much as anyone but u can have too much of a good thing and when you are actually fucking up one of the senses you most seek to please, whats the point? This fatalistic oh its up to them i'm sorted kind of things a bit tragic really!

I've just made a promise to myself. No more reaching til I've got those ER20s in my pocket. Who wants to loose the ability to hear the thing you love – just cuz you're spending too long up getting wrapped up in the stack.
Deadline: 8pm March 10th.
And ObiWan - I'm with you! Respect our earz, peoples!

So the only difference between the ER9/15/25 customised ones at the e20's is that one is fit for all and the other is moulded? kinda makes sense to get the 12 quid ones then. you get used to the shittest in ear headphones in the world after half an hour. and it's only one rave a week...
here's a weird question- has any had this tinitus thing where they're in bed nearly falling asleep and they got a song in their head, and u can hear the song as if its actually playing, on headphones or the stereo. and it dont last for long, and u can kinda control it before u 'notice' it too much and it cuts out? or am i just fucked up?

I think it's called a hypnogogic hallucination where most of your brain is asleep but not quite all of it. I used to get em all the time. Think some people are prone - people with the sort of spiralling minds where songs get stuck in 'em. Plus I'm sure there's something specific that dubstep frequencies does to the brain.
Scientist out.

hypnogogic hallucination. thats a fucking wicked claim to fame for work in the morning.
by the way guys, i've been contacting some stockists and the actual guys making these ear plugs. i run www.rapnews.co.uk and hope to arrange a mass discount on a bulk order, and/or some competitions/giveaways.
hold tight.

i've said before in discussions about this... the 12 quid ones aren't gunna save your ears... i got heavily lectured in this during my degree. it was very very scary. you only get one set of ears for your whole life. definitely get em as a quick fix, i'm gunna... i can't MAKE you all get moulded ones, but out of concern for your ears i advise u to

Tinnitus is like AIDS...

man totally... i actually wrote a 14 page proposal to apple for my writing course about the ipods. its so fucked. they barely even warn you about the sound levels in the manual or anywhere. it was just about a week or so before i turned in my paper that they introduced the "volume limit" feature, but even then they never say how loud and for how long you can listen to music before it starts to damage your ears. i talked to an audiologist and he said the standard rule is 60% volume for 60 minutes in a 24 hour period is safe. and its mad worse than anything else because its going straight into your ear, no time to diffuse through teh air or anything. but no one will ever follow this rule at all so its no use. once you get tinnitus it will not go away. mine are already fucked but now i wear earplugs all the time... and it can be just as bad with the soundsystems too though.... but it depends on the way the room is made up and what kinda setup you got going on.... for example fabric is made really well with brick walls and shit and they have a quality sound system that is supposed to be far easier on your ears.... whereas other more low budget parties where they just crankin the speakers.... so much worse.Tee2006 wrote:I attend maybe 1 FWD a month so I think I'm safe with the 12 quid ones.
Fuck the sound systems, it's iPods that fuck people up. Turn the sound check off and hit max. That's not a healthy look.
