Re: Ableton Device Focus: AUTOFILTER
arent EQs also sometimes referred to as filterbanks because they are essentially a bank of filters? they both serve the same purpose.
I tend to use an EQ8 for "mastering" EQ, and then seperate Autofilters for any "creative" equalisation. i find this way makes it easier for me to keep track of any automation than automating the separate poles within EQ8. This also makes tweaking the "mastering" EQ easier at a later point, not having to worry about messing up your breathtaking filter sweeps!

Re: Ableton Device Focus: AUTOFILTER
Cutest thing in Ableton. Don't be afraid to turn the LFO's rate all the way up. Just make sure to turn the amount down. It will sound all nice and watery once you turn the amount down a bit. Resample that fucker and MY GOSH you have a bass like the pros.

Re: Ableton Device Focus: AUTOFILTER
does anyone else find that the autofilter cuts frequencies even when it is set flat? ive taken to using the fabfilter micro instead for basic filter sweeping cos its spectrum runs from 10hz-30000 and avoids this problem....... or i just automate the autofilter bypass.... still rather annoying dont chuthink?
after that slight diss i must say i f**king love ableton live, the minor problems (deactivate/activate notes/clips with no key command WTF??) are definitely outweighed by the awesomeness!!
looking forward to the next insight into another ableton live device, nice one elkie

I let this slip completely, to be honest I've not had a lot of tyime to get on production with my final year at uni... we should get this going though, I learnt a few bits from this first one! anybody got an idea for the next device we could focus on?
