Except it's not a new musical movement. The DJ Nate tracks that Planet Mu are putting out are at least two years old. Honestly, the whole hype feels like a bandwagon riding on the success of Addison Groove.

There's definitely a reason for that, before that you really didn't get to hear about juke in the UK, the tunes don't get press, the lyrical content doesn't lend to radio play and the DJ s don't come over here at all... i knew about stuff like DJ deeon but i really only found about it off the bag of a dancemania mix flosstradamus did for mad decent a while ago... it's not like there's any juke forums which means it's not easy to find information on like with D&b or dubstep.

personally, i'm fascinated by the stuff even though i'm coming pretty late to the party - the simple structures just seem to work in a way which i can't figure out yet, i've made a few attempts at making it and i can't get my head round it, i always make it that little bit too fat and end up with a shit hard house track...

footcrab was made in arpil 2009, but im aware juke was in full stride in chicago by then.. but i was into the ghetto tek stuff way before that also, back in 2007, so for me it stemmed from that aso. I just wanted to make people aware of it, i made footcrab and it sat on my laptop for about 4/5 months before i even played it.. which was at outlook in croatia for the first time.

juke is like marmite.. either love or hate it... whatever you choose, its still pretty amazing to hear a sound that cudda been made 15 years ago.

What's wrong with repetition? Dance music IS repetition. Not everything has to be about a big cum-on-your-face drop.

I've not heard enough juke/footwork in a club to know properly how it works but in the past I've very very happily enjoyed entire nights of the most insanely repetitive ghetto house...
