To a certain extent, I think the whole workflow thing comes with experience and I can imagine it varies from one person to the next. That said I have massive problems when it comes to it though so I 3rd the idea... and actualy concentrating is a nightmare for me. Prehaps a strict diet regime with a tut. on leafy greens would be worthwhile, to..?

also setting up a template catered to your workflow helps a bunch

I think it's definitely time to add some more stuff to the bible. I think the forum has got pretty much everything locked down in terms of knowledge on all the different aspects of music from different members. I can contribute to stuff about theory or anything else really. We've got a pretty robust thread on mixing already and I'm sure we could get similar discussions on various other topics.
I think some stuff on modulation would definitely be helpful, as well as signal processing and sound design, and we can never have too many compression topics.

well i see lots of people on soundcloud who have learned their datsik wobblez(tm) to perfection but upload shite tunes, not because of the sounds used (which are shite too but whatever) but the bad arrangement and different elements not fitting together etc.

so what i'd like to see is a tutorial on composing electronic (dance) music in general, by which i don't mean "bars, drops n breaks".
stuff like "how to create tension/anticipation without using risers" would also be nice.


personally i want a tut on stereo mixing. i've never really paid attention to it at all.

arrangement is kinda a difficult thing to cover because it's subjective and differs person to person
i think what a lot of people are missing are "incidentals" (see the rusko production video). come up with a nice stab, riser, drum hit whatever that breaks up the loop feel and process it in a bunch of different ways so it has the same-ish sound to it, but is unique. toss a version subtley (or not) in to your tune when it feels like it's just a loop repeating and you'll be amazed. that's just a quick fix though

stereo mixing can be covered though at least to some point (still trying to learn more about psychology relating to acoustics and the actual science behind audio. yes i'm a nerd at heart when i'm sober)

most of the info peeps want to know is already out there. the info just needs to be slightly condensed in a well written way that gives a slight nod to dubstep. well written, or well presented in terms of videos, tutorials are key to them actually being useful. it's the equivalent of having a good teacher or a shit one. i liked depone's vids as i thought they were very well put together and presented nicely (except for that mess up with camel crusher...).

yeah to make this suggestion even vaguer... your hardware knowledge shines habit, maybe a good series on 'integrating analogue and digital mediums in the studio'

I know, id be curious, I spend so much of my time making sounds imperfect I know I wanna start upgrading to analogue kit soon... would be a good read if you typed some articles up on the subject, help those of us spoiled and raised on digital know where to get started.

oh and if there's gonna be a guide on stereo someone could tell me why some tracks sound so damn shitty (in terms of certain elements missing or being too quiet) on the speakers i hooked my numark omnicontrol to (they suck, my mom wanted to buy me monitors as a bday present and now i have the kind of monitor bands use ). is it because i play them mono? i thought mono is just the whole signal sent to all speakers equally

yeah, instead of more dirty bass tutorials (generally speaking), it would be cool to see more on rhythm/hats/syncopation and all that
