Stoked at OP, I now have another member for my mensa step collective! Got to have a BPM within the upper 2% of the genre to join though. :D

This is the most waste thread ever.

I don't normally listen to the music when people post arrogant self promo posts out of principle. But this time I just *had* to know why this music was so 'intelligent', now I understand though, 'intelligent' is clearly a prefix that is shorthand for shit.

IDM?

besides, what makes your music more intelligent than someone else's?
Logically, I think it's more complex rhythms... And it DOES makes sense in a pretentious way.
I mean, on one hand you've got Boards of Canada, say, and then there... erm... Rusko?
I never thought badly about terms like IDM. I always took the "intelligent" to mean it's made more so for the mind rather than dancefloor, as in made to listen to closely on some nice headphones, not necessarily to dance to (but of course you still can). Aphex didn't like the term because I think it was misinterpreted to just mean "smarter music" which is definitely pretentious and dumb, so he called it Braindance which makes more sense I think.

That said, I can't listen to the links here, so I dunno what they are, but that's my take on "intelligent dance music".

Yeah except braindance sounds like a retarded portion of a kids' show. Or like someone accidentally added a B onto an ancient native ceremony.
I do however agree on the distinction between cerebral electronic music and more club oriented dance. I think it's stupid how people think anything different warrants a new label as if the things already classified by a certain label are all supposed to sound identical.

Hahaha I never read it like that. Now I'll never read it the same again.
