Re: what do you like most about dubstep?
that when you're in a room with a big rig, you can feel it, not just hear it. cheesy i know, but sub-bass just fuckin touches me

Re: what do you like most about dubstep?
The guidelines for dubstep are what I like...
1. There must be bass.
2. Do whatever the f**k you want with it.
3. A good wobble never hurt anyone, yet it's not compulsary. (See: Burial)
And the fact it's very local to me, since I live in Bromley. It's near the epicentre of dubstep known as London... where major artists such as Skream, Benga, Mala, Coki etc. all originated from. It is a music genre that feels "at home" to me.. today's pop music is very Americanized and even Grime (codeword for brit-hip-hop) still gives a bit of an Americanized tune.
and btw what do people use for mixing? my mate uses logic but i lack a mac, and atm im just trying to muck about with stuff
can i predict FLoops or something similar would work good? couldnt find a way to mix via Reason

can't stress this enoughmr hyde wrote:How is it that 90% of new producers don't seem to follow any of the stuff mentioned?
Seems there must be a lot of people out there that like dubstep to be a standard kick kick snare 140BPM beat with big breakdown then abrasive mid synth 'bass'line, and a bit of a mosh.
People need to get out to some nights with proper sub to feel what dubstep can be.

the way a dubstep song can sound and feel completely different depending on the rig. Even a song you've heard a million times at home or on headphones can still surprise you when it's dropped on club system!
