"Big dubstep article in this week's NME"
pretty much because they cant write their way out of a paper bag, also because they cover so much awful "5 minutes, microwave career" bands and i dont really want something i love (dubstep) to be associated with them, (i.e. electroclash, shroomadelica) i'm not even kidding, they actually made up the term "shroomadelica".Slothrop wrote:Yeah, but do we hate the NME because they don't give dubstep enough coverage or because they do give it coverage thereby causing dubstep nights to fill up with twats in tight jeans?
any coverage they do give will be completely half arsed and badly researched and it'll give people a distorted view of what this music is really all about. in a years time you'll have stnuc coming up to you saying "what? you STILL listen to that shit? thats well 2007"

I don't think it's a bad thing for one scene to acknowledge the presence of another. Would you rather they did an article on how shit they think dubstep is?
How many dubstep magazines/sites/writers would write an article with dubstep producers bigging up 'tight black jean indie wankers'?
If it was monocultural surely they wouldn't be writing about it?
Isn't it a bit fascist to choose who can and can't dig dubstep?
Being proprietorial about anything is the most surefire way to stifle it's creativity...
All that I was here first stuff is a bit dated too - do people into dubstep for a year enjoy it significantly less than the folks who remember Zed Bias's tough stuff etc.....
I am no fan of the NME but at the same time you can't expect to own a scene - look at what happened to D+B - it went within and the music suffered massively.
I think Dubstep will remain being an exctiting genre if outsiders are allowed into the inner sanctum....
And I am not talking about retired/bored run out of ideas d+b producers either...
