Easier said than done, though, as has been pointed out many times before... big raves will always mean a section of audience who want it hard.... But the point (one of the points, anyway) I'm making here is that hard needn't mean predictable or peurile. I mean, case in point:

Exactly what I was saying about how WEIRD and inventive the rhythms in grime could be. But people like Shortstuff and Numan are definitely taking that weird illogical rhythm thing forward, and I'm sure more producers will do as grime keeps picking up popularity...

Im not the biggest fan of 'Brostep' and i often opt out from listening listen to it, that way i dont have to get uptight about a song i dont enjoy.

Thats also why i dont listen to Psytrance and scouse house and because of that i dont worry about it?

Stop worrying for FUCK SAKE

Yeah real grime. The original old days productions by Wiley, Jammer, Geeneus, Jon E Cash, Danny Weed, Terror Danjah etc etc were as ORIGINAL as anything in dubstep. They didn't have the sonic finesse of dubstep, in terms of production skills and deep bass, necessarily - but rhythmically and tonally they were Fresh.As.Fuck and often completely brain-bending with it. Plastician/Plasticman was originally considered a grime producer too, remember! Hearing pirate radio back in those days was an awesome experience. And there's plenty of freshness now musically, all the names mentioned in the thread above, from Numan and Joker to Teddy and J Beatz, are still turning out new twists on it.
Not to forget All those guys getting releases on Butterz...
I don't turn on Korn to get it on, I be playin Digi Mystikz 'til the dawn

people liked dubstep because it was pushing the boundaries of music now all its been drained of creativity, people who started liking it cos it was some fad are turning to grime.
and anyone who thinks grime was unintelligent and is intelligent now has no understanding of the music

Whys it funny?

Grime, like 'brostep' is hardly intelligent music, only thing that Grime has going for it is a few decent artists with clever lyrics like P Money who are actually on a Dubstep tip rofl.
wtf are you talking about!?

and what makes music intelligent to you... this is by far the dumbest statement i read on dsf
intelligent has NOTHING to do with what is used to make it
rather how its used

Pretty sure our Ashley is trolling.

But yeah, the production side of grime is coming back in a big way, Terror Danjah, Swindle, SRC, Rude Kid, Teddy, Mr Mitch's etc have all put out quality releases this year, and that is clearly going to continue. Butterz is one of my favourite labels around at the moment.

less time on internet more time in studio is the only thing that will cause one genre to become more influential than another

No. It's DUBSTEP.

I hear the step but don't hear the Dub, I'd say Brostep is pretty fitting description tbh.

I definitely do not hear "bros" talking over the dubstep

I am a huge fan of Grime... and I would say that it's not very intelligent music. That doesn't mean it sucks. I like crunk, which is as stupid as it gets but doesn't mean it sucks.

i think the mods need to make a separate forum for whining on here, cause all of these anti-brostep threads are getting really redundant.

bassmusic wrote:i'm loving the new grime influences coming into dubstep, but i'm not sure it will 'deliver us from' anything. There's just a general tendency for aggro in 140ish bassmusic at the moment, whether it's a Flux Pavillion tune or Temps bellowing about how he's going to kill everyone; the energy and the vibe is pretty similar.
this

i'd much rather play a grime instrumental if i wanted to inject a bit of energy than play some "brostep", but that said i can't see it being a saviour of dubstep. the brostep sound is about far more than just energy and the main issue with it is the people it attracts rather than the music itself. maybe they'll get bored and move on - only time will tell

if anything is going to save us from "brostep" then it's other genres influencing the sound which is something that it's quite obvious the people that like "brostep" aren't interested in. most of them talk about dubstep/brostep as if it's the only music genre worth anything and complain if they hear anything else at a night, and that imho is the core of the problem. music is always in flux and cross pollination is essential to keep things interesting

to be perfectly honest though i don't know if dubstep needs saving from it anyway. "brostep" is there and whether or not it's here to stay the best thing is just to avoid it if possible. don't buy it, don't go to nights where it's played and there's no reason why it has to have any affect on you

nothing needs saving from anything. everyone needs to stop thinking shit is dying etc etc. people thought grime was dying a few years back around the time it started to get more commercialised stuff in the charts. i think its as strong as it ever was, and the same is true with dubstep.

i think grime production over the last year or so has exploded, and ive been loving mixing in grime to my sets to give it more variety. it has more varied drumming patterns then dubstep, and so helps mix things up. i also find it a good segway to mix in garage.

artists iv been feeling on a grime tip:

SRC
swindle
royal t
terror danjah
mr mitch
spooky
darq e freaker

BIGGUP BUTTERZ (elijah n skilliam). THEIR RINSE SHOW IS ESSENTIAL LISTENING FOR THOSE MORE CONCERNED WITH THE BEATS SIDE OF THINGS.

grime is amazing, listening to dubstep isn't
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.
