Re: Dubstepfm.co.uk
btw just to chime in.. i DO have an FM transmitter.. so your argument that dubstep.fm is not a real fm station is invalid
Re: Dubstepfm.co.uk
that dubstepforum.co.uk domain doesn't use that domain as it's primary domain, it's probably just to get a bit more type-in traffic, their primary domain is dubstep.nl
although, in contrast i wouldn't setup a site called dubstepfm when you have something like dubstep.fm, 1. because dubstep.fm will f you up in the search engines 2. dubstep.fm is already massively established 3. i wouldnt want the same name as another site

Re: Dubstepfm.co.uk
or 3 it's really disrespectful to the people that have put the work in on the original station and shows a total lack of regard for the community spirit that goes hand in hand with dubstep.
Re: Dubstepfm.co.uk
just because dubstep.fm was the original radio doesnt mean someone else can't set another one up, bbc1/2/3/ etc. disrespectful? i don't know, it's a perfect domain for the target audience (dubstep listeners, uk), a wise choice? not if it were me.hellfire machina wrote:or 3 it's really disrespectful to the people that have put the work in on the original station and shows a total lack of regard for the community spirit that goes hand in hand with dubstep.

Agree with this. Its like a independent burger place trying to get more customers than maccy d's - it just won't work so theres no need to get all aggy about it. The only thing I hate about dubstep.fm is that every time its name is mentioned someone from the station comes and defends it, even if it isn't being attacked.ryan_p wrote:just because dubstep.fm was the original radio doesnt mean someone else can't set another one up, bbc1/2/3/ etc. disrespectful? i don't know, it's a perfect domain for the target audience (dubstep listeners, uk), a wise choice? not if it were me.hellfire machina wrote:or 3 it's really disrespectful to the people that have put the work in on the original station and shows a total lack of regard for the community spirit that goes hand in hand with dubstep.

Re: Dubstepfm.co.uk
I'm not saying it's ok or anything and dubstep.fm is definitely the only station pretty much that I tune into...but why would you name your station after a genre anyways? That's like me starting HipHop.fm.hellfire machina wrote:I'm not trying to start shit I'm just amazed at the attitude that you think it's ok to call the station dubstepfm if you put london at the end. So in that way of thinking would it be ok for me to start a label called Tempa Brooklyn, or Deep Medi Bucktown?
It's a bit different than 'Tempa Brooklyn' or 'Deep Medi Bucktown' seeing how it's not really original at all..it's the name of the GENRE...

However, the pressing plant on their first release misspelt Mystikal Digitz

Re: Dubstepfm.co.uk
I'm not here to defend dfm, I'm making a valid observation.
Sure the name could have been more inventive, but it's not like Dopelabs set his stall out a few months ago. Dubstepfm is a part of the community and has been for some time, not just in the states but the worldwide scene in general. It's a respect thing man. Biting is biting, if someone has beaten you to it then just live with it, it's a brand not a track name ya get me.
To the guy/girl that mentioned the bbc -
BBC = British Broadcasting Company (owned and financed by the British government) so all BBC radio stations are the same company same with the television channels too.
No point flogging a dead horse, I've made my point, I'll happily leave it there.
