Headlock666 wrote:even if they did cease production, the second hand market for techs is so flodded there won't be any sort of shortage for a long time to come (at least for the MKII). My decks are like 25 years old and still going strong. You can get pretty much every spare part for the entire turntable (at sometimes horrid prices but still...).
However I still call bullshit until an official statement is released. Sounds more like another hype message so people will go out and stock up on decks. Personally I wouldn't even consider buying a pair of new Technics decks. My used MKII's will probably outlive me.
this

sad news if true but it's not the end of vinyl if it is. other manufacturers still exist with decent alternatives and there's still loads of actual technics about too. not to mention the fact that they're built like tanks

i heard from somebody that worked at guitar center (the place to buy 1200/1210s in the states) that the president of the company sent out an email regarding this same issue, saying that guitar center was trying to buy up the remaining ones in stock and was raising their prices.

which i would say it true since this is 300 more than last time i checked:

Hope this isn't true to be fair as it'll drive the prices of current 1210s well up, even second hand. And I just started mixing and was planning on getting my first pair of 1210s next year! :(
