Am I wrong in thinking that the reason one does not compress a sin wave is because it only has one frequency. So by compressing you are basically squashing the top, making it sound more like a square wave and therefore adding extra frequencys?

im finding more and more that i only process sounds that need processing and if they sound fine on theyre own then i leave them alone.
