Numbers 1-10 apply to most people on this fucking forum. In fact you could probably find that it applies to some facet of every person on the planet in some way, shape or form.seckle wrote:numbers 1 & 8 apply to many people in this subforum.

i say variety is the spice of life
i find it fascinating just to discuss things most people assume to be one truth when it doesnt appear to me to be the case
id say i answer questions when i say things that appear controversial but then maybe this isnt aimed at me

Re: 10 traits of conspiracy worship
The ridiculous thing is that in 1987 the American Psychiatric Association (APA) came to the conclusion that the diagnostic label of "schizophrenia" was not an accurate one:noam wrote:shit son i've been there before... can. of. worms.Genevieve wrote:A lot of these 'symptoms' bear a striking resemblance to ones you would expect in mental disorders related to schizophrenia.
"Despite extensive field testing of the DSM-III diagnostic criteria before their official adoption, experience with them since their publication had revealed , as expected, many instances in which the criteria were not entirely clear, were inconsistent across categories, or even contradictory"
Instead of finally admitting that research in to this specific diagnostic category was futile as there was not enough evidence to support it this quote is from the introduction of the 'revised' DSM-III-R.
There are 15 combinations of symptoms where no two people can be exhibiting the same symptoms yet grouped under the same diagnostic label as 'schizophrenic'! They don't even know properly how anti-psychotic drugs work either and they don't even work on 25% of people, they're generally a massive waste of time and people's lives and money would be better spent on rehabilitation that just locking people away in the first instance

Re: 10 traits of conspiracy worship
If anything, I think it's overdiagnosed and sort of a waste-bin diagnosis that isn't overly well defined. But I don't believe that 'schizophrenia' is entirely fabricated. Just very, very, very poorly understood as of yet.test recordings wrote:The ridiculous thing is that in 1987 the American Psychiatric Association (APA) came to the conclusion that the diagnostic label of "schizophrenia" was not an accurate one:noam wrote:shit son i've been there before... can. of. worms.Genevieve wrote:A lot of these 'symptoms' bear a striking resemblance to ones you would expect in mental disorders related to schizophrenia.

this. even if it isn't related to conspiracy theories.Pistonsbeneath wrote:

and as for schizophrenia, heard this one on some comedy show;
a patient in a mental hospital suddenly goes crazy and throws his tray of food against the wall, one of the ordelies comes over and says,
"what on earth did you do that for?!"
he replies, "God told me to."
another patient indignantly interrupts;
"I did no such thing!"

but the funny thing is, its the same people getting upset in this thread, that are now trying to tell us that the article has no weight. look who went straight to insults. people can't handle reality in here. they want to live in their paranoia box, pointing fingers at everything.kay wrote:Numbers 1-10 apply to most people on this fucking forum. Re: 10 traits of conspiracy worship
this is the thing though. conspiracy people want badly to believe in their thinking, to the point that they project that reality. this is the point that the article is addressing.Pistonsbeneath wrote: i find it fascinating just to discuss things most people assume to be one truth when it doesnt appear to me to be the case
