Why do people associate 'brostep' with having more energy than deeper stuff?

Its a term used by a lot of long term users of this forum and listeners of dubstep that have been around when the dubstep scene was underground, they cant stand the Midrange bass sounds that is far more popular globally. Alot of the people on this forum are used to low end bass, which in fairness where dubstep began examples of the artists listened to by these dubstep fans are loefah, Skream, Benga, Mala and Burial (please forgive me for the examples I rarely delve into this kind of dub).... Where as the more produced dubstep around the world is what the people on this forum called brostep. they say things like ''OMFG MAN I HATE THEM WOBBLEZ THEY PISS ME DA FUCK OFF DATSIKS A FOOKIN tnuc!'' Im not one of these people.... I say that with the most respect possible.

Started as a hate nickname, has picked up in popularity. I like all forms of dubstep - and I quite like the term brostep, as I think it identifies those that listen to it rather well. I'll not be ashamed to admit I'm one of those "bros". lol

^^^This.

^^^But not this.

It is imo infinitely harder to make truly 'deep' dub perfect than it is to make 'hard' dub perfect. Sure more effort usually goes into brosteps midrange bass, but the effort in deep dub is not in the bass but the atmosphere it creates, the space. And that cannot be achieved with trial and error or by accident. Its is always time consuming, whereas I find once you know your synth well enough, you can make a dirty sound with relative ease.

Gen, I didnt really type it correctly but what i was impliying was that the mid range dubstep is produced by a higher number of people, not quality in production.

idea: if they hijacked our term and won't stop using it, why not re-write history and give the proper dubstep another name? :6:

if i were to risk a definition i would say what they call brostep leans toward a much more in ur face approach.. sometimes reminiscent of dnb... but not always... but thats useless... the word bro was incorporated cause it sounds so bro-ish.. my girlfriend hardly likes it..

as for the dougie.. i could bust pretty decent dougies
