I know it prob sounds stupid and corny, but wanting to learn something is easier than having to learn something. Mindset really does make a big difference, but of course note taking and repetition are most important. When reading about stuff, dont just try and remember the words, try and actually think about what your supposed to know. Each time you read about something take a moment to just think about what it is you just read. Envision it happening in your head. Usually helps me learn things, and remember them after the test, instead of just forgetting it all by next week.

memory takes time, training it is just a bit silly imo. Look, if you got to study just take your time, revise everything like noam said. once done studying, fuck memory. If you have good ideas your write them in your little notebook, if you do stuff you take a picture or whatever. I think life is something you should experience at the moment, a nice memory/flashback now and then is very nice, especially with old friends, but personally i don't give a fuck about memory, you can't control it, it gets worse while aging anyway.. it's natural !!

(this is just my view, not saying that you should do it, but you might get some inspiration out of it; oh and if you would really like to train your memory then just do it, you might even enjoy it :) )

yes i know i'm so full of shit sometimes but that's me ^^

That wouldn't help, none of the stuf I'm revising is in a book.

I also managed to recall about 30 names and their associated details in a self-test today using mind maps I wrote yesterday so I think I might be alright, I've just got more of a problem getting it all down in the exam itself!

also try some alternate sleep cycle patterns so you have more hours awake to maximize your activities

unless you're just after a quick fix and not something for the long term these help, and brainwave machines may help a bit too

Another thing I kinda do is to distil down to the basic concept and understand it. Work best with equations - if you understand the concept of what you need to derive, then all you need to remember are the base assumptions, and the relevant mathematical transforms, which are in themselves concepts. So the methodology is the key, instead of the answer. Far less things to remember once you have the essential methodologies nailed down. Everything else then follows, sometimes even if it is in a completely different or unfamiliar field.

Sick I think I'm going to try these, I read that in the middle ages people would wake up around 12 o'clock with heightened mental abilities hence it being called 'the witching hour' and I put it down to evolution make them wake up to deal with nocturnal predators..

I'm sure they work great....if you don't have problems falling asleep in the first place.
